Novice DIY with scuf marks from claying...

How to resolve claying that leaves scuf marks (?over aggressive or not enough lube). Has happened to me twice now at times when I was concentrating on trying to get rid of obvious thick surface debris (eg bird deposit) with Zymol clay and lube. SO I was probably over doing it in those areas. Rest of clayed car was fine.

The scuf marks seem to come out with time and multiple washes last time this occurred...but was looking for immediate solution (and prevention), as immediate rewash, additional wipe down with clay lube and hand polishing did not resolve.
As mentioned, I am a novice at DIY detailing
Thx

it could be both. how much pressure are you putting on the clay bar it should be only enough to glide it over the clay lube.

what polishes do you have on hand? just polish the hazy areas by hand and then wax over the area you polished, that should be the solution.

It seems you're not using enough lube. If you have the 12oz bottle of Lehm Lube, usually 1/2 - 3/4 should be used for a 996 or 997. If your finish is really in dire need of claying, the whole bottle is used up. You can never use enough lube. If you have Lehm Klay and Lehm Lube, do you also have Zymol HD-Cleanse? HD will remove the clay marks and you can wax right after polishing. Hope this answers your question.

Not rubbing hard but just frequently over one area, but probably not enough lube then if I was supposed to use more than half of the bottle on a single clay job. BTW, I was using HD cleanse and Concours by hand to try to get out unsuccessfully, maybe not rubbing the polish firm enough. Or maybe I just needed to machine polish to have it come out.
Appreciate the input...

I believe that HD should take it out but what else do you have in your garage?

Not much more than the Zymol basics, no other polish or machine. I have been just keeping it simple for now. Do you have other basic recs?

HD would definitly remove the clay marks. Most people don't work HD into the paint enough. You want to have a medium pressure with a microfiber pad and use about a nickle-size amount on the pad to cover a 3' X 3' area. Work HD into the paint until the surface become almost transparent. You should begin to see streaks of gloss coming through.

Also, if you sprayed more lube on the scuff mark and clayed it again, you'd remove the scuff.
