1993 Acura NSX

This is a detail of a 1993 Acura NSX. The car was purchased by the owner several years ago in Chicago and has been garage kept. It was in excellent shape but the client was looking for more of an extensive detail than from the regular shop he was using. The prior shop left wax in all of the crevices and basically made a mess of the car. It was up to me to bring it up to the proper standards.

The day started off wonderful with superb weather here on the East Coast. Perfect for detailing. The paint had some swirling and the client was really interested in full correction and just wanted a simple polish and cleanup.

Everything was going fine on the detail until my Flex 3401 decided to give me problems. I noticed that lint from the backing plate ring was starting to shoot out when I was using it. Just after that I noticed a burning smell coming from the Flex. I stopped and pulled the backing plate off and noticed that it has started to get chewed up and melt. This was very frustrating as I knew about Flex BP issues and was always careful to make sure that my BP was tight and that I didn't apply to much pressure. I guess I will be making some phone calls tomorrow. Anyway onto the detail.

Process:

Presoak via Foam Gun with Eagle One Wash Soap and CG CWG
Wash via 2 BM with Megs NXT soap
Wheels cleaned with Megs All Wheel
Tires cleaned with Eagle One Tire Cleaner
Clay with Megs white clay
Polish via Makita 9227 and Megs 8006 pad with Megs #80
LSP=Collonite 915
Interior wiped down with Woolite 6:1
All leather dressed with Autoglym Leather Conditioner
Interior vinyl dressed with Sonus Total Eclipse
Glass cleaned with Zep Glass Cleaner
Tires dressed with Megs All Season Dressing
Wheels sealed with Zaino CS
Engine wiped down with ONR in spray bottle and dressed with CD2

never understood why people fell this way, 15 years ago 250 hp was alot, and it did a 13 second 1/4 which is quick even my todays standards....

IMO not really underpowered if you look at it like that.

in your point of view its definitely not underpowered and is probably even more power than I could ever use on a daily basis. But when power output remains the same for what? 14, 15 years or so with only displacement changing slightly (0.2L), you can have cars in the 25k-30k range, throw a few mods on, and that 75k$ nsx will have a tough job to do to keep up in the straights.
Then again the NSX was always geared towards the drivers experience. Honda has always been known to keep their HP ratings the same for years on end. But c'mon if you wanna keep up with the exotics that it was designed to hang with they better have to step their HP game up.

Nice work! - when and where are the next concours you can take it too? A buddy of mine has the same car, same colour, and cherishes it as well. Unfortunately, he doesn't drive it much, which seems a pity because that's what they're really meant for - to enjoy.
