Full Wheel Cleaning

Does anyone have any tips for a full wheel cleaning? I was looking to do this and I am just looking for some information. What jack do you recomend to get the car off the ground to take the wheels off? I have P21S Wheel Cleaner Gel, a decent power washer, and The Worlds Greatest Boars Hair Brush. Do I need anything else besides some sort of jack. Should I get jack stands so I can get the entire car off?

Thanks for all the input.

Phil from Detailer's Domain has posted a great thread on this. Do a search. Or it's probably on his website too.

We actually have lifts in the shop, and take the wheels off after the rest of the car is washed and brought inside. But you can get your self a good jack from Sears (craftsman). Using jack stands helps too, but got to be careful where you place them under the body. I would do one wheel at a time if I had to use a jack. Also make sure you apply a good coat of wax on the inside of the wheels before you mount them back on, it will help cleaning them in the near future.

OK thanks. Do you have any recommendations for a jack or jack stand?

Thanks. It seems pricy but I would rather buy quality stuff that has no chance of breaking.

For that tuff brake build up use P21s wheel cleaner or wheel gel. This stuff is like magic. It's the best stuff I've ever used. I'm sure there are comparable products different detailers offer, but nothing off the shelf is even close.

P21S Wheel products are some of the safest and most effective products on the market. I also use P21S Total Auto Wash for wheels and wheel wells.

Last month a concours detailer (Tampa, florida) told me he used brake fluid rather than wax to help keep the brake dust off. Doesn't make great sense to me but he has a pretty good following. Anybody else do this?

I think somebody is pulling your leg here. Brake fluid WILL permanently damage your wheels. Don't try this at home.
