Scratch in paint

Hey can someone look at this photo and tell me whether this scratch can be buffed out or does it have to be repainted? Would the whole panel need to be painted or could it be blended in?

Nevermind, I just got back from the dealer. They said that they have a guy that can brush touch it. I don't know how that will turn out. Is that a good idea? Either that or painting the whole panel!

If somebody is really good with a brush it'll be hard to notice. I had that done to a similar scrape on my Turbo. You can only see it in certain lights.

Can you take a better picture at different angles?

It's hard to tell. Trouble with black paint is, it's difficult to match since there are so many shades of black. It could be wetsanded and that would be much better than a repaint.

They're all out of focus. Can't get a good look at how deep the scratch is.

Looks like the car is covered in holograms. Bring it to a quality detailer and see if they can take care of it first.

Much better. It looks like someone already tried to touch it up.

Unfortunately, that scratch looks too deep and short of a complete repaint, nothing else will match perfectly. The touch-up guys can comes close, but it won't be perfect.

Your other options are a spot blend or a complete repaint of the rear 1/4. If it were mine, I'd do it right and reshoot the rear 1/4. Let us know how it turns out and take it to a few shops to get the experts' opinions.

Agree with Moe, looks like its through the paint. If you know of any high end detailers in the area ask them for references on body shops.

that's a deep scratch. bad touch up too.

when you have a deep scratch that can't be buffed out, either repaint the panel or leave it. having a bad touch up only makes it worse.

meguire's scratch x is the best hand buffing compound i know of. if it doesn't work, you are looking at repaint.
