Waxing your clear bra?
Waxing your clear bra?
I have had clear bras installed on both of my P cars over the past year. The first was done by a friend in his garage. He did an amazing job and the bra still looks flawless. The second was done by a local reputable shop and the bra instantly started getting dark spots on it by bugs and any road debris. It is time for a good waxing of my cars. But I'm trying to figure out how to get the spots off the clear bra. I called the shop but they did not have any suggestions except maybe a polishing compound. They also said you can wax the clear bra area. Has anyone done this?
Stains – to remove stains from PPF surface use a safe solvent (P21S Total Auto Wash) a d-limonene (citrus) based cleaner or Isopropyl alcohol (IPA), it may take a few attempts to fully remove. Do not scrub hardened/dried excrement residue as it is very abrasive and will scratch the surface, once they are softened (re-liquefied) it enables their removal with less likelihood of damage to the PPF surface
Bug blood - whilst this doesn’t happen often, you may get the odd red or yellow bug blood stain on your film (you can help avoid this by regularly waxing the film). This is no big deal on MOST films this will bleach out in the sun, the blood does not penetrate the film but as some bug blood is used as a dye then it should be no surprise that this can occur. As Indicated this is a temporary problem with most films and will fade out over time in the sun, how long depends on the severity of the stain and intensity of the sun during bleaching out

While clear bras are great for rocks they are not so good for dirt and bugs; IMHO.
I use a clear bra cleaner and clay to get as clean as possible. Bugs do have a tendency to stain if left on for too long. The best bet is with prevention.
I use a clear braw sealer. One or two good coats. After this I put on about 3 to 5 coats of good carnauba wax. Then I wash regularly and use a cleaner and microfiber cloth to clean bugs after every drive. This keeps the braw looking like new. Mine is now 4 years old and looks like new with the exception of a couple of nicks where it did its job.

I do wash my cars carefully after almost every trip. I suppose that is why the marks are driving me crazy. It is interesting to me that on my 996TT the bra still looks like new with zero marks after one year and my Cayenne Turbo looked bad after the first trip. Where do you find the clear bra cleaner and sealer?
When I got my bra put on the installer gave me a bottle of this with their own branding. After I ran out I bought more directly from chemical guys.

Do you have the same bra brand on both cars? I know that venture shield is terrible when it comes to bugs, while 3M can be polished and cleans up better
