Black marks on interior

Picked up skis for the family a few months ago, and a pair was rubbing against the rear interior light gray pillar of my Cayenne. They look like big black smudge marks, and the image mgmt is not working so I cannot upload a pic.

How can I clean it without making it worse or having to buy a replacement piece?

And yes, I bought a ski rack so that it wouldn't happen again.

Your help is appreciated.

Get some Autoglym Interior Cleaner and some microfiber towels. Apply the interior cleaner directly on the stain, let it sit for 30 sec. and then aggitate it with the towel. That should do the trick.

Here is a picture. Someone else recommended using Woolite and water with a microfiber towel.

i don't own a cayenne. is that pillar plastic, vinyl or cloth?

if it's plastic, you may want to try some Mr Clean "magic eraser? - sold at supermarket. Some simple green may work as well.

If it's cloth or vinyl, you'll want to be more careful on the cleaner.

we would use a hot water extractor/steam cleaner to remove that..but I understand that isn't readily available to everyone.

the stain in the cloth needs to be lifted.. if you rub it, it will only push the dirt in further.

We've had great luck with 3M's upholstery cleaner.. it's in a blue aerosol can. Spray it and let it soak. Take a soft toothbruth and "lift" the stain out and then vacuum it with a strong vacuum (like a shop vac).

BobbySpeed, how about something like this:

Adam's Carpet and Upholstery works great:
http://www.adamspolishes.com/site/pr...8C4CC66B396AA5

The video show the application on carpet/mat but you should be able to use the same method on the pillar. (minus the vacuuming)

Thanks for the thread, I had some tire marks (lol) on my light colored interior that I needed to get rid of. I will try some of these suggestions out.
