You pay sales tax in CA only when you register the car. Ask the seller to fax you a copy of his Calif sales tax certificate which he most likely will not have.

I have seen this a few times before. the seller pockets the 6%.

Best to ask now the issues I outlined at https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...=102958&page=3 #34 or you could be in big trouble.

Don't take any chances when dealing out of state.

Thanks for the head's up, this is not the first time I'm buying out of state but it's the first time I've been asked to pay portion of the sales tax first.

Do the research first as I suggest.

Find out who the true title holder is before wiring any funds.

You want to deal directly with the lender at all costs!

I've stopped negotiation with this out of state dealer, the whole transaction is making me really uncomfortable.

Now I'm talking to a local F-car dealership here in LA on another 07 F430, less than 500 miles with rear challenge grill...very beautiful.

Good move. There are plenty of great 430's out there.

We should meet up one of these days and catch up! A lot has happened to me in the past year, got married, remodeled my home, and now with a 5 month baby girl. So this car hobby thing has been put on a back burner until now.

It's unrealistic not to expect some scrapes under the front spoiler and or rear diffuser. Install after-market front skid plates if the car is not equipped with them.

Just closed the deal last night. It's an 07 coupe with black interior (red stiching), 450 miles, electric daytona seats, shields, and rear challenge grill! The dealer will install the 3M clear bra over the weekend and I'll be picking up the car early next week. Here's a few pics of the car from the dealer:

You made a very smart move.

Beautiful car and nicely trimmed out.

Best of luck.
