Possibly switching cars: '07 GT3 to 360
If you can afford it, do it. The Ferrari 360 is my fav. Maintenance is going to be the biggest difference. Ferrari's require it more often and its more pricey. That is what kept me from getting italy's finest. Its been a while so I don't know how much exactly, but I do know there were a lot of problems with either transmission... both requiring service at intervals of 15,000 miles. The manual had clutch and flywheel going bad at that interval and the F1 box had clutch and F1 pump go bad. Service cost I want to say was over $7000 for either issue. Again, its been a while since I inquired so my numbers may not be completely accurate.

its abt right
as for driving experience, gt3 feels more nimble. f360 is wider. biggest difference is sound, which f car is far superior. look wise, no comparison, f360 wins. the only thing gt3 has on f360 would be reliability and cost of ownership. both cars are equally less ideal for daily driving. 360 may even top gt3 in daily driving comfort.

I used to be a super track rat ('93 RS America, '04 GT3) but since I bought the '07 GT3 the desire to turn an expensive car in to "rock fodder" has left me.
I have been really busy the last 18 mos and just like to cruise the canyons the very little time I can. Plus, I just experienced a death in the family and have started working down the "bucket list" ...#12. Own a Ferrari someday.
Interesting topic and would like to hear more about the 360 Modena's reliability issues apart from the clutch issue already mentioned. I am mainly interested in the manual version of the car. Don't mean to hijack the thread but thought this would still contribute to the original question as well.
I understand both sides of your dilema. I'm over taking my nice cars to the track for the inevitable "what if" scenario.
Looks like an easy pick for you though, bucket list, not really racing, etc.
But if it were me, a 07 GT3 is the way to go

gt3 is better daily by far
360's problems are 03 and earlier more then anything but it will depend on the car
if you buy a 360 get an 04 that's had its belts done its a $7k service if not done
with the world change in car economies the mileage on Ferrari's won't matter anymore so if you buy one do as I always say and drive the **** out of it.
Your 07' gt3 is a better track car (by far) but I feel the 360's are better in the 130's mph and above cornering for your weekend jonts. You can really hammer a 360 in the 7k plus rpms and high speed stuff. Mountain driving is fun in both. I feel a lot more comfortable in a Ferrari above 150 then the Porsche.
If your changing to a Ferrari get the Spider. It's carries a touch more class. Plus top down driving in the mountains is fantastic
My opinions are always the same so I recommend keeping the gt3 and adding the 360
Be prepared for a lot more cash at your local Ferrari dealer. Ferrari's cost of ownership is at least 4 times as high. Don't get surprised it's a large mistake if your not ready for the larger costs on parts and service. Porsches really are bulletproof. $400 a year for a yearly go through and off you go.
No bias here I love both of the cars. If it comes down to cruising with your girlfriend or wife the 360 will be hands down ahead of the Porsche in curb appeal.
Although I have a couple of 430's I really feel the 360's design is not out of date like LUIS feels but that's just my opinion. Still a very nice looking car that doesn't blend in like the typical 911 does

I've had both, and due to my love of F1 racing I tend to like F cars SLIGHTLY more than P cars. In this case, there is no question the GT3 for me was the better car. Loved my 03' 360 F1, had zero mechanical issues and regular service wasn't that much more than P car- sound was great. BUT, my 07 GT3 (ceramics) was a great car and a great track car. Felt lighter and more responsive and as quick, did miss the 360 sound and the F car stands out where the GT3 car shape is similar to all 911s. But GT3 was really tight and FUN to play with! -and if you want a stick you must go P car as F cars without F1 are hard to sell (although can be bought cheap).
Now I should mention, f430s are also down heavily in price and that is another significant step above both.

My last 2 cars were a '04 GT3 (Track rat) and an '07 GT3.
I am well aware of the (mariginal) performance difference...But thanks!

Cool. Before I bought my 05 GT3, I strongly considered a well optioned 02 360. I'm sure I would have had losts of fun in the 360, but for what I did with the GT3, it was a much better car (for me).
GT3s ROCK for sure! I had a garage queen 2007 GT3 wth about 2000 miles on it and sold it for a price I could not refuse... Probably going to get into SCCA Spec Boxster or buy a E36 M3 for the race car thang. I beat the **** out of my '04 Gt3 on the track but it sure was fun!

what would you race an e36 against? that's just a track car. scca irdc imsa none really have a good series to race it.
Plus when I really want to get NUTZ, I've got my YZ250!
OH YEAH! feel like it's 1990 again........(till I fall off!)

Getting a 360 for weekend car, and either a spec boxster or E36 M3 (SCCA STU) http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum.../t-307264.html
