I'm guessing the owner never got the recall notice in the mail.

I think that's what they call a very expensive warranty claim

Perhaps F should seriously consider a sprinkler system in the engine bay as standard equipment Seeing a car like this burn is such a waste

i've seen too many f-car go up in flames, why isn't there a fire suppression system? bad publicity?, "oh our car has a tendency to catch fire so we'll give you a fire suppresion system". so they'd rather prove it really does catch on fire?

This is a known problem. It has been fixed. This guy in the video will get a brand new 458 Italia from the factory! Factory can afford to replace the car(s) and it is just an inconvenince for the owner of this car, provided he got out in time.

Yes it seems to be a problem for many of the mid mount cars....doesn't happen to every one thanfully but enough catch and burn to make one think twice. A fire suppression system would be a logical solution even if it was just to provide some piece of mind for the driver. That way there would be some comfort knowing you can drive it hard as you like and get it hot without worrying whether its gonna burn up and leave you red faced and stranded on the side of the road.

+1.

Driver probably made too much money to scan internet forums during the day to stay current on what is happening on youtube, or Ferrarilife.com.

Maybe he paid cash for the car, and didn't leave proper forwarding address for the recall notice to be sent?

Only about 10% of the cars had that defect, LOL.

That's BS to have this big of a screw-up. That would seriously **** me off, doesn't matter how rich I was; it's a major inconvenience and embarrassment, never minding that it's a serious danger. How could Ferrari mess up so badly (if indeed it was caused by the defect)? It's not as if they didn't learn from exp.
