Question maintenance on F355??

i am contemplating on the F355 as my next car purchase. just wondering if this car is high maintenance and what is the approx cost of a routine maintanance. wonder if it's worth owning one.
T.I.A for any feed back.

15k mile service on a 355 is about $8500 from a dealer (plus whatever else they find needing attention). this service should be done every 5 years or 15,000 miles, whichever comes first. they now say this service should be done every 3 years, but 5 years, like it had always been until recently, is fine.
so, to answer your question, yes, it is very expensive to operate a ferrari.

8500 every 15k = .56 per mile
3.00 for gas at 15mpg = .2

Total = .58 operating cost per mile

plus annual depreciation of say 3000 = about 8 bucks a day.

Drive the car say 5000 miles a year = 2900 divide that by a year = 8 bucks a day

Insurance = 2000 a year = 5.5 a day

You own a Ferrari for about 23 bucks a day.

Drop you hooker habbit of 200 a week cause now you got access to lovely ho's for free and now you're making money!

DO IT!

What needs to be done at 15k mi that will cost $8.5k? Do they give you a free set of tires/rims/brakes/fluid changes every 15k mi?? Holy smokes! Maybe they just charge you $100 per qt of oil and $1000/hr of labor for inspection!

The engine has to come out for a belt change.

Do they rip out the tranny for a fluid flush and disassemble the rear bumper for a burnt out bulb? LOL Engine removal every 15k sounds like a real poor design to me.

What's the service schedule like for a 360? If it's similar, I'm never buying a F car.

Belt change in the 360 is much easier, no engine out required. And the 430 has chains, so it's not an issue at all for that model. Ferrari does things their own way, but believe me, there is nothing like the rush of owning and driving one (this side of CGT, that is).

i believe the engine out deal does not apply for 360, 550,575 and newer. the service is highly dealer dependent and i think very open to negotiation. the change from 5 yrs to 3 yrs for belt change was i believe mainly due to ferrari entering into extended warranty agreements with their customers.

i have been told but not verified this that you should budget about $3000 to $5000/year for these cars as they do need routine services. for cars that are out of the warranty period, i hear that a good independent shop is equal if not better in some cases, at a good discount from the above dealer prices.

condition, miles, and a COMPLETE service/repair history are key as well as the appropriate maintenance being done. when these things are not done or missing people will often walk or demand the appropriate discount.

good luck and keep us up to date!!
