Turbo Racer is infamous around these parts
do you know the options, has a major been done. well equipped and with the major i'd be thinking 110-115 max. also grey market cars do not get info on tsp's that us model owners are privy to. i would only get the car if you have had it fully checked by an independent 3rd party. good luck, truly a dream car.

I'm no expert, but that sounds way too low for a Spider, even Euro.

It would depend on whether three year/15000 mile servicing was done. If so, since all 2001 Spiders are out of warranty, you can price the car as you would a US 2001 Spider with 5000 miles.

Many service people will tell you that the Euro Ferrari has more power because of emissions set up and may be somewhat lighter.

I suggest you check whether the mileage is accurate. I believe restrictions regarding odometer tampering are not as closely watched in Europe. Possibly the computer would be able to give you some indication.

If you know a Euro 360 spider for $110-115k, please let me know. I have seen a couple in the 130's but that seems really low. It is hard to find a good 99 modena for that.

The debacle of the gray market continues...

I still can't believe Ferrari lets companies bring these cars into North America through anything but an authorized dealer network.

I've heard nothing but nightmare stories about gray market cars...I can't believe anyone would consider one, no matter what the price.

I wonder what assurances/conditions today's importers are offering with the sale....it would be helpful if people "in the know" could post some info, including:

How can the car be registered/smogged in California?
What assurances are there so that there aren't 5 cars running around with the same VIN#?
Does Ferrari offer any kind of warranty? (already know the answer to that one)
How do these cars get through DOT? (are crash equipment, airbags and lighting issues addressed by the R/I's?)

I would just spend the extra money or find a wholesaler to get you a 360. Gray market cars require extensive conversions and alot of money to get them to spec. You have to change the glass, bumpers, cats, etc.... And it takes forever if its done right, if you find a loophole it sounds great but you will get screwed bad in the end. Take it from somone that has gotten ****ed very bad from an "RI"

I agree with your comments and would only buy from an authorized Ferrari dealer.

However, gray market can be register and smogged in CA. Also, all recall items must be warranty by Ferrari even for gray market cars. Most Ferrari dealerships will service these cars and have all the TB's on them.

DOT approves all gray market cars for entry into US. I am not sure what you are referring to regarding vin #'s.

I'm no expert, but from what I've heard this is NOT the case. Buyer beware, find out for sure before you commit, there are big dollars at stake.

to answer your original question:

130s wholesale and 140s retail is my guess (US cars retail is around hi 150s)

Gary by law all safety recall items must be taken care of by the car manufacturer regardless of where the car was built or sold.

Additionally, call any authorized Ferrari dealer and ask if they will service a gray market Ferrari. I will wager at least 95% of not all of them would. Service is where they make their money and they will not turn away a money paying customer.

I just had a conversation with a gentleman who had a euro 360 for 3 years that he purchased in 2000 I think...F1. He loved it and with no issues what so ever. Sold it in a blink of and eye for the spyder (6speed though) and missed the coupe...He's got a Murcealogo (sp?) now and still highly touts the 360 coupe F1 (euro)
