Roadtrip f430

Anybody have driven their ferrari in a 400 mi roadtrip?

Is it absurd? I am asking since the sale person who sold me the car is like surprised I would drive it(f430) back to home, which is 400 miles. It has a clear bra of course.
I was given the impression I should not put miles to it? Is he crazy or am I crazy?

I bought my M5 in Ohio and was 1200 mi trip and my porsche in San Antonio where I went straight to Dallas for a total of 450 miles.

Please advise and be gentle on me please.

I personally buy any car to drive rather than to look at it.
I don't think either of you are crazy. I suspect that the salesperson views your time as more valuable and it is most cost effective to ship the car in an enclosed truck. The salesperson may not realize your desire to drive the car.

I am going to drive my Porsche for the trade and I wanted to drive it back. I cannot wait for it to be shipped and to arrive at my house.

I flew and inspected it and the sound of the f430 is intoxicating. Both inside and outside of the car. Its so loud, I dont know why anybody would need a TUBI. Of course that just me.

I say drive it, take pics and submit a write-up of the journey . That said, except for one friend who drove a 360 300 miles, everyone else I know got their F cars shipped.

thats the fun part! Driving your new car home from the dealer! Its only 400 miles, not a big trip IMO compared to what you did for the M5

Go for it.

This is my first ferrari. An 07 F430. I am a little bit nervous that the f430 is not made for a long drive and may break down. It has 4900 on it but never heard really a ferrari been driven this far straight. For a 200T car, I hope I am wrong. But I dont want to learn it the hard way.

You will be fine in a newer MY exotic for a short 400 mile jaunt, now if it was a 308 or 328 I would have it shipped. We have a guy in Houston with 60k miles on his Gallardo, driven it to New Orleans, Dallas, Thackerville OK, and Tunica MS many many many times.

Thanks for the encouragement. I will post pics when I get on the road.

In the meantime, enjoy some pics of the car I am getting.

To think that by spending over a 100k on a car and worry that such car is going to break down in a 400 miles trip is just mind blowing. If I was to have such thought on a car, I would not buy it. As for me, I always find excuses to drive my 997tt whether it is a long distance or just down the street. I put about 8k miles on it this year and I still have two months left.

I kind of have to agree with this. To think that you spend north of $150k on a car and be worried that it cannot make a 400 mile trip without a breakdown is just crazy! I know my Aston is not as exotic as the 430 but I just drove it from Michigan to Arizona and the thought of it breaking down did not even enter into the equation. Do the drive and if it can't make it SELL it!!!

you'll be fine. there are those that love garage queens and those that don't want to drive their cars long distance.

make sure you have some emergency supplies such as water. do a basic safety check on fluids, tire wear and pressure before getting on the road.

if the weather is too cold or snowing, you may want to cancel your trip or wade out the storm.

as for the exhaust, i would recommend a tubi for all ferrari owners. sounds ferocious.

Couldnt agree more, Tubi for exhuast sounds mental.

Also def drive the car!!! I was home for 2 weeks and put roughly 2300 miles on my car. Cars are meant to be driven. Enjoy!!! Looking forward to more photos!
