Esprit vs 430 F1

Last night i had a chance to do some racing against my buddies 430. Keep in mind 20 minutes earlier on the highway i raced a previous model Z06 and from a roll of approx 60mph to about 130mph i pulled 3-4 cars on him in the Esprit. A couple weeks ago in Malibu I raced a 996TT that had some mods (atleast exhaust) and beat that pretty well also. In Az I raced my buddies E-Gear Gallardo and from a 30mph roll to about 130mph, his front bumper ended up being at my door.

Now we all know how I feel about Ferraris, but in virtually the same race as in the Gallardo his 430 killed me. 30mph roll on, to 130mph, and the 430 walked me by id say 4 maybe 5 cars. I was shocked, car hauls ***!

Esprit dynoed 370rwhp, 370 ft lbs of torque, and weighed in at 2833lbs with a 1/4 tank of gas. It has full exhaust, race Ecu, air filters, blow off valves and boost controller.

So the F430 is quicker than the Gallardo...interesting. I figured they would be about equal.

I have read that the new Gallardo SE is a smidge faster than the F430. Who knows, and really, it doesn't much matter.

How much boost do you make in the Lotus? If I recall corectly it is not intercooled. Will you be intercooling it and adding more boost?

Non intercooled and runs about 11psi. I wont be adding intercoolers as i will most likely trade it in towards a gallardo.

I've heard conflicting stories on the F430 performance envelope, some good, some bad. I guess we'll know better when there are more of them on the streets and in tests. From what I've read/heard, the F430 is a pretty big improvement on the 360.

On another note, even in a straight line, driver skill and attentiveness vs adrenaline can make a difference. Your Esprit, while fast, has won some runs that I wouldn't expect it to, and I think your driving experience has something to do with the outcomes.

Guess we need to see more folks driving in and against the new F-Car. . .whatever the outcome, I think we can all agree that the F430 is a beautiful machine.

Wow! 4-5 cars in only that period of time is alot. Did it jumo ahead and then graduallly pull away or was it a fairly linear progression of it pulling away?

You should've raced your Murcielago against the F430 That would be a fine race.
