Fake Ferraris

Germany's Auto Motor und Sport reports on the Extreme F360, a replica of the Ferrari 360 Modena built on a (hold on to your berets) Peugeot 406 coupe. The spectacular transformation was done by Extreme Cars, which offers the kit -- which includes body panels, doors, head and taillights and other fittings -- for around 20 large. Still, it's not 360-class runner; the 406's a front driver with a powerplant that's better suited to a European econobox than an Italian exotic, but the company says it's planning a limited edition with a 3.0-liter V6.

AND YET ANOTHER!!!!

THIS TIME A COUNTERFEIT FERRARI!!!

VIDEO -----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXq_r7VeWDo

And so the stereotype continues. China seems to be the birthplace of all things fake these days. There are countless music players out there that bear a striking resemblance, at least aesthetically, to the Apple iPod line. We’ve seen the launch of a service known as RedBerry that makes no hesitation to acknowledge, even promote its similarity to Research in Motion’s BlackBerry line.

Now, we turn to the world of automobiles to find much of the same. Chinese automakers are essentially unknown outside of their home country, partly due to shady manufacturing, and largely due to politics. Well, they’ve managed to turn their eyes to the red hot Ferrari brand, and made a clone for less than 1/10th the price of the real thing.

It turns out the counterfeiters have thrown together a mock Ferrari – no, not just a model, a real working vehicle (at least for the time being. Who knows what kind of craftsmanship went into this thing?) – that can be had for about $10,000. And FYI, that’s a real Enzo pictured here.

Sounds like Extreme Cars is going to have a nice lawsuit coming up. Ferrari hasn't taken kindly to replicas in the past.

That's a sad thing 'cause 406 coupes are designed by Pininfarina and look great.

There are much better replicas comming out of mexico and germany right now that are MR2 based, quality is dependent on the builder of course.

There is a company in mexico right now building 250 testarossa on tube frames with jag/chevy moors right now that are very nice as well.
