Input on 360 Purchase

Hi I am about to buy a 2000-2001 360 Modena and I got two that I am considering. I would like to get some input on both of them if possible. I am looking at closing the deal this week so it would be greatly appreciated sooner then later.

1. 2001 Red 360 Modena with 22k miles. 6spd, upgraded stereo and carbon fiber throughout the car and also upgraded Ferrari Rims. Car recently had $8k worth of work done. It is a 3 owner car as well. My only concern with this car is how do I know if its a Eur Spec or US spec the owner does not know. Anyways here is the link to the car

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2001-...QQcmdZViewItem

2. 2000 Ferrari Modena with 19k miles. 6spd, completely stock with Daytona seats, car is at a Ferrari dealer in Texas. It is a 4 owner car on carfax and all belts have been done and etc. The Ferrari dealer stated it is a US Spec car.

Please let me know your thoughts and opinions. They will be much appreciated. I plan to keep the car for 6 months and drive it 2-3k miles then get something else as I always get the itch for a new car.

Thanks
Corey

Easiest way to tell eurp vs US spec car is the VIN. Euro VIN's have a "B" for the 8th character while US have an "A"

also:
taillights only illuminate 1/2 (vertically split) instead of full
license plate area is still generally shaped for a eurp plate(if the car has not been retrofit with a us spec bumper)
some euro's have headlight washers in front bumper
thermostat is in C not F - not usually changeable so pretty reliable

so the 2001 car is euro but the 2000 dealer car is US

Odd that he doesn't show the drivers seat at all...check the wear/tear on the drivers side.

Thanks for the advice, I had a feeling it was a Euro car considering the price was less then most and the guy did not know. What do you guys think now as far as price goes. The one at the dealer is at an actaully Ferrari dealer and just told me $400 to do a PPI and Compression on the 360 which sounds very reasonable. Keep the the thoughts coming it is very appreciated.

ppi price is about on par

and that guy does know it's a euro - that's why he has it priced accordingly. if it was or he thought it was a US car, it would be priced $25 or so higher. avoid him

Car #2 hasn't had 30k svc, clutch, TOB, or cam variator done. You're looking at around $10k worth of maintenance.

How did you narrow it down to these two cars? Different colors, different options and different years. Looks to me like you narrowed it down based on price which I think is a mistake. You should decide on a color and which options you want. Then look for a car with a good history.(less owners and service records). Then find the best price. I would want to make sure it has everything I want. Be patient and you will find your car.

I really want a Yellow 360 6spd but will take a red one or maybe another color. Also perfer the price around 115k or less. As well as under 25k miles or so. That is why I am considering these two if any one as info on another one, please let me know as I am looking at getting one very soon. Thanks for all the input. Also I really want a US spec as well.

Saw the red one sold. Still debating about the yellow one, not too many for sale for under 120k 6spd with under 20k miles. Let me know if any one knows of anymore for sale that aren't on ebay, cars.com or autotrader. I also check ferrarichat as well. Still looking waiting for the right car.

both cars too many owners IMHO.
i think i can handle being 2nd or 3rd owner, but anythign more gets me worried. Maybe it's just me. The first one seems like euro car and the second one does not show up at all, broken link. I would keep on looking. also the first one he's got really cheap rims on, indication that he'd take the cheap route. just my opinion. :-)

I have seen Riverflyers car it just is not the car for me. I really want Yellow and a U.S. car as well. His car is a 6spd which I like but also a Euro which I would not perfer. The few things I want are:
1. U.S. car
2. 6 spd manual
3. Under 120k
4. Under 25k miles.
5. Perfer Yellow and Red
So far this is the only car that I found that fits my criteria.
