2 Car Garage Makeover

With a starved for size 2 car garage I wanted to do a complete makeover to accommodate 3 cars and have a nice clean safe area to work on the cars. Here's what I did...
- Epoxy Floor
- Painted Walls w/ Stripes
- Put in Shop lights & Ceiling Fans
- Ran one of the Doors to the ceiling and replaced opener with Liftmaster 3800
- 4 Post Eagle Lift (I have 13' ceiling)
- Gladiator Work Hideaway work bench and cabinets
- Kobalt Tool Boxes I made a custom 80/20 Aluminum stand so that I could pull the lower box out and use it as a work top and portable tool box.
- Stereo Mirage Speakers and Bose Sub. (It Rocks.. Just ask my neighbors)
-Filled it with cars

I got a lot of the ideas from other threads here (Gladiator stuff is nice). Here are some pics..
Enjoy.

Very nice. I was considering adding a forth garage onto my house, but this makes alot of sense. What height is your ceiling? And concerning the modification to the garage door tracks so that it opens up, is that something standard? That can be ordered?

Thanks
John

I'm very impressed. I had to hire people to do the same thing for me.

Thanks.. My ceiling is just shy of 13' But even fully extended with my 5 series on top it doesn't touch. The rule of thumb is to take the height of both cars added together and add 8". If your ceiling is at least that tall you are good.

The Liftmaster 3800 is a crankshaft garage opener which means it turns the shaft (where the spring is) directly. It sits on the side of the garage itself. Super quiet and has a tpon of cool features. I simply had a garage door company come in and they put in track extensions that pulled the door slightly away then straight up towards the ceiling. It took them about 4 hours to install that and the new opener. $1K in garage door reroute & opener + $2K for the lift is a lot less than a new garage.

The only thing I hired out was the Garage Door work...

Here is a quick pic of some of my helpers with the paint.... The lift took 5 friends, 4 hours, 24 Beers.

DT007 - What is the Tire Rack in the second picture you have mounted on the wall for your tires/wheels? Thanks.

First of all as everyone as has already said this looks very nice. I have been strongly considering something similar and wanted to know more about how did they install the extended tracks to pull away and then up? Can you provide close-up pictures of the tracks? Thanks.

Thanks for all the compliments... I find my self just hanging out in there at times finding things to work on.. I'm loving it.

To answer a couple of questions.:

The Tire Rack is from The Tire Rack. I've had it for a few years and it works well. I think it was about $130. (Blurry Pic below)

The garage company simply put extensions on the door that pulled it away from the wall a few inches then extended straight up. They then used my existing 90 degree bend and horz. bars. Additionally they had to put larger door springs in to accommodate the balance of moving the door straight up as it is heavier than being moved immediately horizontal. Finally they put in a LiftMaster 3800 Shaft driven opener. You can find alot of posts about this opener on this and other forums.. This is a great opener!. Smooth, quiet,.. It is required for opening a door in this fashion. All in All the Garage door reroute, install, & Opener was just under $1K. The opener alone was 1/2 of that.

I can get better pics if you'd like. Just let me know.
