Holy Depreciation GT2
Holy Depreciation GT2
Well lot's know that cars are dumping in value and something quick but if anyone checks this car out and buys a new Porsche in the next 2 years you are crazy
2008 Black/Black GT2 with upgraded wheels
MSRP 215k plus 6 months ago
Buy it now 135k or make an offer. This owner lost a minimum of 100k in 6 months on this car when they traded it off. Holy Crap.
this is like a Mercedes Benz depreciation.

almost wish I had room in the garage but who knows where it will drop

I saw this one last week, it serves the guy right for putting 20" wheels on a GT2. Obviously this wasn't a toy that he used on the track.
I think that the 997 GT2 is a great deal at this price, but it is likely going down even more.

This is what surprises me. No way would I consider 17K miles sky high. I mean, how many miles do you think Porsche puts on a car during development. 100k+ maybe? I'm sure that if you take care of it with regular maintenance, it will last for a long time. If I had the money, a higher mileage car would not scare me away as long as it's got the maintenance records to go with it.....
Maybe the cheap price is a reflection of the stupid wheels that are on that car... and I do not mean "stoopid" as in "phresh" or "phat"... just regular old stupid...
the ad says $10K for the wheels... has to be a charger or padre car... has to be...
lowest priced 997 GT2 I have seen...
Why is H20Skier searching for GT2s? :-)

I agree with you personally... even more so on a special car like this. To me, if I love this car, it wouldn't matter as much about the mileage.
I am only speaking the truth about the auto market though... most people who are in the market for a GT2 want the least used one possible... hence the very heavy depreciation on this 17k mile car.

I'd have to think about it if I were in the market seriously. If I were a millionaire and owned multiple exotics, maybe I'd be shopping for a lower mileage car. If I'd saved and this was my only toy car, I'd jump on saving $$$$$ for one......
No doubt a great deal, except one would have to take the circus wheels off. We need to realize that the resale on most Porsches is going to be a problem given the economic times.
17k miles doesnt seem much, but you can do plenty of damage if you have been tracking it.
i'd rather spend an extra 20k and get one with less than 5k miles.
suppose you did buy it and put 10k miles on it, a 27k mile GT2 will hurt more in resale than any up front savings you might have had.
less than 120k would make it worth it.
and if you think thats bad, some 996 GT2's have dipped into the 60's

In the end I think we can agree the economy is not right for a car that mostly sits in the garage. That being said I for one in 5 years will be talking about the days when you could buy theses cars for this little money.

Jeez... that was quick.
