driving in the rain?
Trending Topics
Street tires are clearly better, yet I have tracked the car several times in the rain with Sport Cups. Sport Cups hold corners well until you get standing water, at which point the channels in the sport cups cannot evacuate water fast enough and traction disappears quickly. If you are on public streets remember that even with street tires Standing water and oil and other substances on the road often are the greatest danger. With 305s and alot of weight in the rear you have to be careful no matter what tire you have on in the rain, because if you lift to reduce speed in a corner, you will find that traction control can not "Make" traction, and you may end up in the bushes as one of my clients did last week in a rain burst!
Bottom line, if you have occasional light rain, the Sport Cups will work with a measure of caution, if you experience frequent or heavy rain, Buy a deeper grooved street tire like the PS2.
Lastly do some rainy track days and get instruction driving in the rain, it will pay huge dividends at a time you are not expecting it.
