Factory tires on GT3?

I was under the impression all GT3's came with Michelin's, I picked up my car today and it has Pirelli P-zero's.

It depends on the production day and what tires were available at that time.

There was a thread about this topic a few months ago, but it might have been on another forum though.

PHCI congratulations on your new GT3. Tires may be a personal item like beer. I have had both the Michelin Pilot cup on my GT3 and the Pirelli P-Zero Corsa on my GT3RS. Having both cars IMHO the Pirelli's are better. They have a lower treadwear of 60 vs. 80 for Michelin and most importantly the Pirelli's have a much better tread pattern for wet weather. There are others how would opposed but they are wrong IMHO.

Yes, I had to drive the GT3 back in the rain, plenty of grip from the P-Zero's. I expected the GT3 to be a handful, it turned out to be a pussycat. Love the car!

I was suprised when I got the Corsa's too. I initially thought I would replace later w cups, but now think I will stick with Corsa's after puttign a few miles on them. On track they are all ready to go after 1st few turns.

With a wear rating of 60 or 80 what kind of miles are you guys getting before replacing tires?

Tread wear depends on your driving style and alignment. With a stock alignment and normal spirited street driving you should have no problem getting 5000 + miles from the Corsas. If you track it and drive on the street with a track alignment you will be lucky if you get half that. I tracked them at Sebring last weekend and they are very good in the wet once you get some heat in them. They are probably the best all around compromise for the street but they can’t touch the lap times of dedicated race rubber such as the DOT Hoosier R6 or any of the slicks (Michelin, Yokohama, Pirelli, Hoosier, etc.).

I usually run Hoosiers and only ran the Corsas because the track was wet. I started with 35 PSI cold all around and then bled them back to 40 PSI hot. I got more pressure growth in the rear than the front and finally ended up with 33 PSI front and 31 PSI rear cold pressures. I did not put a pyrometer to the tires and therefore these tire pressures are inconclusive and are mere guesses at this point but the car felt good. I would start around 34 PSI all around and bleed them back to 40 hot. Track conditions, ambient temperatures and alignment settings will affect the outcome.
If you plan to do a lot of track events I suggest that get some light 18” wheels and dedicated race rubber. You will be faster and will save a lot of money in the long run because those Corsas are very expensive.
Good luck

My GT3 came with the Corsa's, I have 4K miles with 6 track days and they still seems to have a fair amount of tread left. On track they handle well, and stick. I do seem to get a little squirm under very hard braking. I run them hot at 34 front and 37 rear, I am happy with the tires, but that being said my next set will be MPSC's to expeience what the difference is in grip. Steve

I ran the corsa for my first track event as they came with the car. it was an 80 degree day i started out cold 34/36 and my pressure went through the roof like 43/48 hot, I finally backed it down on my next track day to 28/30 cold which on that day translated to 33/36 hot which felt real good. I want to go to the hoosier next year. What hot temps are you finding work well?
