I like that guy, he kept it real. Sad to hear the Porsche arent transitioning well with their race car selling success, but they have to know if they dont win, no one will buy the cars.
So they had better get to work!!!!!!
NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think his comments were spot on. Other winning Porsche teams like White Lightning have switched to Ferrari as well for similar reasons I presume. It's really too bad
From what I've heard from my friends in the motorsport world, the comments about Porsche's lack of support is very real. Many of the privateers and their suppliers have created amazing innovations and parts for Porsche Motorsport, only to have their designs and ideas "replicated" the following year without giving the inventors credit or showing any appreciation.
A good example of this is the geometry evolution from the GT3-R/RS/RSR. Changing the pickup points made a huge difference in handling for the later cars. A certain suspension guru in our community here figured this out way before Porsche Motorsport did, and sure enough, the factory homologated different uprights for the 996 RSR, the RS road car, and the 997 Cup cars. When our friend mentioned it to Porsche Motorsport years before, they couldn't be bothered... yet they used the input and design in later iterations... go figure.

this is what makes me think that is my last Porsche until someone at the racing dept. is
put in a place of importance. They are going to lose what they had if they havent already. Even the American manufacturers knew win on Sunday sell on Monday

So true,so true...
It´s really sad the same thing will happen in the FIA GT series for ´08 so far there are two teams which will not continue their programm with the RSR.I also have the same impression that porsche is gettin more and more a 0815 car biulder,it´s nothing truly special anymore, excepting the GT series.I still love Porsche and we have two in the family, but porsche is so big now, they only see the $$$ and nothing else.Wiedeking is a hell of a manager but has lost the view of the basics.imo. Something needs to change....

The truth is that no other manufacturer is racing on so many fronts and in so many classes (with so many Clients) as Porsche.
I'm not sure that it is sustainable, and something has to give!
We saw the RS Spyder being successful last year, at the cost of the 997 program.
This year we have seen the "overheating" fiasco at the 24 H Daytona, and there 's much skepticism on the 2008 car (whether the development is going to be enough to catch ...and surpass the Ferrari 430).
We have also seen the loss of many GT2 clients , and then all this bad press.
Maybe Porsche need to step back and re-examine this model of going racing.
It just might be a tad ambitious.

of course thats long since been forgotten though and Porsche is heading that way. part of me can understand it i guess from a business perspective although the company makes enough money to throw the race teams a bone or two surely? Guess not. Glad those guys voted with their wallets though, good for them.
Jim and his guys are going to be fast this year.
I also have many friends in the trenches of the motorsport world that deal with PMNA and Weissach. They ALL feel the same way. It's there way or the highway. Very sad.
My friend that was closest to it all has srecently sold his RSR in favor of the new Ford GTR. He should be taking delivery of it shortly. He was also approached by Ferrari. First thing he said was how enthusiastic and eager they were to work with him. He essentially had to get on his knees and open wide to get the attention of Porsche.
If I were Porsche, I don't know how I could show my head in public after the Daytona fiasco. Between F-Loles and TRG, they entered a total of 14 cars! The rest of the filed was mostly Porsche as well. Even from the sheer numbers, they still could not pull together a win.
That was a good read. Spot on.
Thanks.
