most of the pix shown on the thread with TC design bar are/were my cars.
if you are concerned with wt, get the tequipment bar.
if you are conerned about your life, get TCD bar.
60lbs is about right for a rear bar. i cannot believe GMG bar is much lighter. personally i wouldn't trust a sub 50 lb roll bar. with the triangulation required, you will easily exceed 50 lbs.

btw, 50-60 increase in a 7gt3 is minimal and you will not feel it. in fact, not many pro's will feel 50 lbs in a 3400lb car, yes that's how heavy RS are with a 180lb driver in the car and full tank.

TC bar needs to have a plate welded to the tub of the car. that is how RS bars are done in europe from the factory.

price 2500 or so with powder coating and labor for install. if you think you can DIY. forget it, 1/2 of the pro shops can't get it in, i am not kidding.

thanks for the advice. just not a fan of welding anything in my RS if i can avoided. GMG quoted 35lbs for their roll bar - pretty light due to use of light weight 4130 Chrome-Moly Tubing. i will not DIY a roll bar unless i am building a dedicated track car.

I love the feel of my GT3 and structural rigidity BUT what has driven me crazy is the creeking sound. It has been continuous and there has been no alleviation. The bolts get re-tightened but no improvement.

The TCDesign rollbars looks very nice. Problem is though, I guess you have to be in No. Cali.
Did GMG make a rollbar system that bolts to the rear suspension points?

Correct my OEM RS roll bar makes some noises while driving like little bells inside the tubes only when the road is not good also the front OEM roll bar makes some noises too sometimes nothing serious.I just got the FIA aproved roll cage pading the same from the GT3 Cup.

unfortunately, i have an extra set of OEM 19" for track. love to have some light 18" .... but cost is another issue. i learn that everything cost just about twice as much for Porsche compare with BMW. for example, i paid around $2500 for a set of light weight forged 18" wheels for my M3 much like the champion 18" .... but it cost almost twice as much for Porsche. anyway, just trying to lessen the pain while playing the Porsche game by looking for the best bang for the buck setup. thanks for all the useful info. carnerd, i think i recognize your GT3. do you run with trackmaster? is your GT3 in the photo below?

OEM bar is a good choice and i might have to get it too if GMG cost too much. do you have the weight of the OEM bar? nice RS by the way and love your color do you still have your M3?
Yes I still have the M3 and I think I will have that car for ever, mods still comming every month,I really like the M3.

Ya I run with TMR a lot but that's not my car. Those are the Reynolds' brothers cars and that's most likely Mike's silver GT3, although I can't see the wheels. Mooty should know, he knows everyone. LOL.

+1 on what Mooty said about weight. I've talked with several pro drivers about it and honestly unless you're running sub 1:37's at LS and sub 1:50's at SP constisetnly in a stock car on Hoosiers you most likely wont notice the difference. Even then you might not.

If you can, find some near you with the TC bar and have them show you the work Tony does. It's amazing!

O' and sell those OEM's and get a good set of CCW 18's. They are priced around the same and are much much better. You'll notice the difference.

Daytonaviolet is infamous around these parts
with all the rb choices with the rear shock mounts... how much does the oem RS rb weigh? im assuming 40lbs. how about gmg rb + GMG GT Cup Harness Reinforcement Bracing ? is that 40lbs as well?

if the das is 60lbs, your only gonna increase about 20lb going with oem RS or gmg. like what carnerd mentioned, unless your doingi 1:73 at LS, most of us wont even notice the extra 20lbs.

pick the one that doesn't squeak. you will definitely feel that. hehe

AFAIK, GMG and OEM RS bars creak or squeak. DAS doesn't. don't know about TCD.
but if your gt3/rs only does track duty, then i guess the squeaking is a non-issue.

My factory cage squeaks every now and then. I don't mind the noise though!

it's Joe right? i ran with you at Thunderhill along with Fern.

it's down to GMG or OEM at this point. trying to iron out some detail on custom GMG bar with suspension mount and rear seat mount delete. even though i am not that fast on the track, the extra 20 lbs will still slow me down ... in my head lol

Is it me or is the GMG rollbar + the reinforcement is going to run around $2K? For that money, I would go with the RS RB.

it's $2K plus

one advantage about the GMG bar is that it allow you to move the seat back further than OEM bar. i am 6'1" so the back of my seat is behind the B-pillar which will hit the OEM RS bar ... it will be a tight fit even with GT3 or GT2 seats

new GMG roll bar allow more room for back of seat

vs OEM RS roll bar

OEM bar .... man, just not excised about cutting the floor carpet and weld
