997 LED taillamps?
It's interesting to me, given the sheer volume of 997 vehicles on the road (over 100,000), that no aftermarket company has yet produced an LED taillamp system. What I'm envisioning would be three elements of LED's... one across the bottom that would be two rows of red LED's, two rows of amber LED's above that, and perhaps a squre of four white LED's for the reverse light. You could even do a core-exchange program where you reuse OEM lamp lenses and just fit the new "core" to the lamp. In other words, it would look entirely OEM. The step-down electronics to make the voltage correct are widely available and used in other vehicles.
Just curious if others have thought about this? My 997 will be in the garage for some years to come, I suspect (even if I acquire a newer 911) and the old-fashioned taillamps are what will likely age least gracefully. I've even thought about making a circuitboard mock-up and wiring it up this summer. Thoughts?
Or am I the only one thinking about this?

Lets hope this will happen as soon as possible.
They will have a different shape than the current model, so you're going to have to change or cut/modify the bumper at the very least to make the facelift LED tails fit.
Thats not so good...
Some one who deals in Porsche Parts "Said" the new 977MKII LED taillights are a direct fit for the pre facelifted 997 Carreras

I doubt that OG as they need the bumper as ZAMIRZ pointed out. I'm sure that someone will bring out a retrofit kit using the newer bumper. If not, our friends in the Far East will surely make one.
