Porsche, one syllable or two?

In the UK, where I'm from, it is always said as a single syllable, like borsch, the sossage.

Why is it in the US that people seem to want to say it as two syllables, it seems clumsy, awkward and longwinded?

How did the good Dr. pronounce it himself?

with two syllables. (but where I'm from, the mountains of North Carolina, it's probably pronounced "porch")

Por-sche commercials and videos (including Patrick Stewart, an Englishman BTW, who narrrates on some of the commercials/videos) all say Por-sche. PCNA says Por-sche, and Germans say Por-sche.

Must be Por-sche

PORSH-ah

it's funny how we "lazy Americans" get blamed for pronouncing it PORSH but according to this thread it's the Euros that are butchering it.

Most words in German that end with an E make the "uh" sound. Over here I call it 2 syllables
