I don't think it was anyone on this board.

Apparently, the guy was a friend of a friend who had just picked up his car days ago and turned off TC.

However, it was very minor damage.

Hope so. Is there any 'minor damage' to a cgt?

He jumped a center divider that is 4 feet high. They estimated his speed at 90MPH. That area of PCH has a 55 MPH speed limit and most are doing 60MPH.

If thats what happened, got no sympathy for guys who drive like jackasses on the street and risk other peoples health (in this case mother and child) and crash their car. Take it to the track where you can have some real fun.

If he jumped a 4 ft. median and hit another car head on, I would say the car has to be totaled.

It sounds like no one was seriously hurt, good thing for this guy because it sounds like he would of been completely at fault.

I owned my car for over a year before I turned off the traction control and only did it once! The car is a handful if you are not a GREAT driver with the TC off. The computer allows quite a bit of wheel spin even with the TC on so I haven't found a good reason to take it off.

I agree with the others that driving like this on a public road in a car you are not familiar with is insane!

I was actually at a Charity event for Human Options at that same hotel on Saturday, and saw the wreck after it happened. I had some buddies call me over saying something about a black cgt that crossed over the divider and ran head on into another car. Funny enough, I took a picture on my cell phone of the car on the flatbed, to email some friends that evening, as I was sure they weren't going to believe me.

So many rumors, so little facts.

The car was hardly totalled. It was just the front bumper, ducting, and part of the undertray.

Also, no way he was doing anywhere close to 90. He was coming off a signal and taking a left turn when he gave it too much juice and it whipped out on him. This could happen to anyone in a CGT with TC off, as CGT owners will tell you.

I really think most of you should withhold judgement until you get all the facts. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...
