CGT clutch wear help please
-car has 10k miles
-clutch wear is at 29 MM
-they say it needs replaced at 28MM ??
-
I was just under the assumption that these clutches would last around 20k miles or way longer? anyone know any information if the 29MM clutch is just fine or is it really needing to be replaced soon? I don't want to be scammed out of money here or be told false information... thanks for any info

I had to replace my clutch at about 15k miles, so it seems about the same as what you are experiencing -- note I drove my clutch pretty hard, so I was fairly impressed it lasted to 15k miles.
By the way, how I knew my clutch was done is during highway driving, when I accelerated, it would slip and the revs would jump up. Also from a stand still sometimes, the revs would jump again during an acceleration, so at that point, I knew my clutch was done.

if your car is like what, 3k miles with 30mm, and this car is 10k miles with 29mm, that must mean it would take a lot to get one MM down...??
well thanks for the info guys,

This thread brings up an interesting question for you pod ... who do you plan to have change the clutch? The dealer? What did they quote you? GMG is a very well known tuner/race shop here in SoCal. Although they specialize in Porsche (race and street cars) they work on most of my cars as necessary. They quoted me a price for a new clutch that is 20% less than the dealer's price. At $20k+ that is a substantial savings!
