Get the GT3. Not possible to dislike it. Otherwise you will always regret it.

I just got back from three days at VIR over the memorial day weekend and that was my 13-15th track days since late May.

If you arent in the advanced run groups at track events, I think the TT is perfectly fine, do a couple of suspension mods and you'll have plenty of stick in the corners.

This is my first year doing track events and I can see that maybe only by the 3rd year would I have enough experience that having a GT3 would really give me an edge. Till that point, Im having lots of fun on the track, going to get snow tires for the winter, and just drive with a big smile on face everyday

Keep in mind that a (modified) 996 TT has won One Lap of America two years in a row against some serious machinery.

Done properly, a TT can be an awesome track car and street car.

GT3(RS) all the way. The car is the most fun car I have ever had; and it is not so stiff as a daily driver either. The sound is just addictive, the handling, well, it is a Porsche, it has all the creature comforts, it is built solid, a very reliable car, just the best all around package for a car enthusiast on the road today. It is a 415HP car, so straightline it is not as fast as a TT, but boy you will enjoy every pony in this car. The engine, as you know, is normally aspirated, there is no turbo lag, and it is a much more fun car than the TT. You will not regret it.
If you have had Porsche's before, than engine and the weight in the back does not help, but once you know how to drive a Porsche, there is nothing like it. You need to take it easy initially until you understand the handling characteristics, then it is a blast, like no other car. BTW, the 997 electronic helps for traction control are excellent. You won't crash this car as long as you keep it on.

Ok I ordered a 997 TT in Black with Carrera red interior and complete black trim for January delivery

Looking for a 997 GT3 or an RS in the meantime, I'll decide which one to keep when the TT arrives! I might defer my order to an 2010 Turbo with PDK if I really like the GT3.

Start figuring out how much you'll want to get for the TT, because once you bond with the GT3 on the track, nothing else will compare (they are truly in a league of their own). Enjoy!
