What are the common "RS" mods for GT3?

Hi guys

I'm new to the forum. I was looking at several GT3s and just wanted to tell you that the car looks remarkable! I bet it performs even better than it looks.

Anyway, I wanted to ask you guys what are some of the common mods/changes that 997 GT3 owners do in order to make it look and perform as good as the RS? In other words, what are some of the typical RS mods that regular 997 GT3 owners get?

I noticed that one of the big mods is the spoiler, since the GT3 RS one is drastically different. Is there a special name for this spoiler or is it simply GT3 RS spoiler?

here's a short list I have come up with:
(1) RS spoiler
(2) lip (i keep hearing about this, but which lip exactly?)
(3) RS steering wheel
...

what else?
Thanks!

a lot of people put in the RS clutch and flywheel, especially if they find a RMS leak

Clutch, flywheel, rear wing to an extent.
Some also adjust height/alignment if I recall.

-The RS lip is a tiny addition to the front of the regular GT3 lip. Very thin piece, you'll notice if you find 2 front shots to compare.
-I haven't heard of many people swapping steering wheels.

Most common mod to both is the Sharky bypass.

thanks for the reply guys.

When you say height adjustment, what exactly does that entail? Is the suspension adjustable as it is on coilover systems?

Honestly, you don't need to do anything for it to perform like an RS. I think actual track time differences in the hands of a pro driver might surprise you because there probably wouldn't be any. That being said, if you prefer the feel, you could change the clutch / flywheel - but I wouldn't be taking apart my engine to do this. But when my clutch / flywheel is ready for changing many years from now, I would probably put in the RS units. As to the wing - I don't think that will give you any measurable performance improvement either, but you could spend big bucks finding out for yourself.

Part of the problem is we got a watered down RS here in the states...

Want to improve the performance? Get a good alignment done (corner balance as well), upgrade brake fluid to SRF (leave lines alone), swap pads out for RS29s, look into better throttle mapping / engine management software like Softronic...

if u want to bling: wing, lips and RS steering wheel
if u want to drive: nothing other than harness, roll bar and proper seats. oh, brake fluid, pads and real tires.

LWFW imho is total waste of money. if you cannot rev match the heavy FW, the LWFW will not make you rev match any better.

If you want to improve the handling of the 997 GT3/RS its worth getting the 997 GT2 anti roll bar fitted. Standard one is set to full stiff and car understeers on the limit. Only way to improve the situation without spending a shed load of cash is the GT2 item. Porsche admitted (off the record) that they'd got it wrong and suggested this fix.

Since we are talking about handling, I find my GT3 to be very nervous and twitchy at high speeds. Does anyone else have this experience?

At speeds on a straight the nose seems to wander.

Sorry for going off topic.

Thank you
Ranger

On the standard bars, I ajusted it to full soft in front and full stiff rear and the car handle better. The GT2 bars are used by many GT3 owners I know and it is probably the best thing to do. On the other hand I hear that real racers find these cars handling better with the front anti-roll bar adjusted at full stiff ??? Any experience by others on these adjustments ?
