GT3 Market Test
I am thinking about moving to a 997 Carrera S with PDk and selling my 2007 GT3.
GT3 Specs:
White w/Black Full Leather
14,000 miles (2,000 Track)
Alcantara Steering Wheel
Standard Brakes (New rotors and pads)
Lightweight Flwheel
GIAC chip upgrade
Chrono w/Nav
Upgraded sound system
Xenon
Self dimming mirrors/rain sensor wipers
Champion RG-5 wheels w/MPSC tires (GT3 wheel caps)
Tequipment harness bar (Powder Coated White)
Schroth 3" harness'
996 GT3 seats w/Porsche Crest
Also have Original Adaptive Sport Seats w/Porsche Crest
GT3 on console cover
Porsche floor mats
Sharkwerks muffler bypass
Clear side markers
AccuGuard Clear Film
Lojack
Car serviced by Champion Motorsports
If there is no interest in the track stuff I would remove those items.
Looking for $110K
MSRP was $120K plus the upgrades.
Any interest?

It's like modding a non M and making it go faster than an M, but will it ever drive like an M? The same argument can be said about the GTR. It's faster but most people will choose to drive a GT3 even though it's slower.
A 997S can be modified to be faster around a track than a bone stock 997GT3, but then the "old" 997GT3 can be modified to be much faster than the 997S... Stock to stock, no contest. Modified to modified, no contest. You've probably got $150k into the car and are willing to walk away from $40k of it to get $110k and then pay retail for a new 997S - about $110k?
Makes sense if you have a need to switch to PDK, but otherwise?...

All the comments are interesting and some quite perceptive. The important word in my original post is "thinking" and I appreciate the different perspectives. After test driving PDK on the street I feel fairly confident that with a few tweaks it can be faster around the track. The question is that the main goal and what would I being giving up in driver involvement. All points of view appreciated and exactly what I am looking for.

I couldn't agree with you more, I have a well modified 997S and I drive it well. I am looking forward to the first PDK car that I come across on the track, I would love to see how much faster it is with a "normal" driver, and not an ex race car driver behind the wheel. I kick my self every track day, thinking I should have bought a GT3, but I deal with the car that I have. The GT3 is a track car finished to work on the raod, a C2S is a road car that you can take to the track.
Norman, I can understand the draw of the PDK C2S, but the thing to remember is the shifting is only one part of the drive, the GT3 is a much faster car in all other area's the the Carrera is. My advice is don't do it, keep the GT3 until Porsche makes a new GT3 with PDK, then sell me yours really cheap!

Just my 2 cents.

selling the gt3 and getting a 997s pdk in today's economy, you'll be taking a bath for sure. plus by the time you get it all upgraded to gt3 handling/power, you'll probably spent just as much as gt3 w/ pdk if porsche ever makes 'em. personally, i like the fun factor that comes with manuals.
got any offers yet?

In the offers dept., not one. But this is only a test. No urgency.
I was not looking for a loophole, but I'm curious as to what loophole. What else would I need to do to remove myself from that situation?

385hp with pdk is almost as fast as a 7gt3. after some tuning, it will be faster then the 7gt3.
