Picking up VIN 286 today; question about protecting paint
Picking up GT3; question about protecting paint
I'm headed to Carlsbad either Wed, Thurs or Fri to pick up VIN #286. Yes, one number higher than the recent recall. Wish me luck.
The car is silver/black. Wil be my weekend canyon carver and D.E. car. I'm still not willing to race wheel to wheel in a virgin $100+K car. Maybe by the time I can afford my CGT, I'll be ready to race the GT3 fender-to-fender shall we say. One can dream right!
Question: Last time I drove my street car on the track, about 5 years ago now, the paint front end got nicked up from debris and one cone. (Had to dodge an NSX with more car than driver coming out of a turn onto a straight. How he could exit a turn with so little speed is still amazing to me to this day...)
What's that new fangled stuff that people are using to protect the paint at D.E.s?
TIA,

I am definitely going to do the clear bra. For the drive home from Carlsbad to Scottsdale though, I'm not sure I can get it done in time. What's the latex paint stuff?
BTW, Mansour. My TT is about to go. The lease assumption paperwork is in process. So, my only turbo will be the Cayenne. The GT3 should fill the void nicely though!

Hey Eddie,
Not yet. I have someone who wants to assume the lease. The paperwork was just sent via Fedex yesterday. So, if all goes well, the car will stay intact as a stage IVgt.

I am getting an itchy trigger finger for a gt2 so I thought I'd start collecting some parts now...

Watt uses some lexan material on his cars for ORR, I pm'd him about it but never heard back.

Will do. Thanks Jack.
By the way, the pick up is tomorrow morning. I've got an appt for the clear bra before heading home. So, I should be all set.
The latex stuff will be good for track events after break in.

By the way, I had the VIN no. wrong all along. It's not 286. It's 862. Doah!
So, just how many 04s were made?
