Wrecked 07 GT3
Also, you never know what the owner is doing or not doing with his insurance and I just assume not "muddy his waters" with this type of stuff.
In any event, I am the last guy to point fingers and be an on line nanny of any sort... just wanted to point out what may not be so obvious to a lot of people.
I do not think racing will ever die... I do think that lapping/DE could, and as a recently married guy with a relatively new kid... I need the lapping days
I understand and agree why they should not be posted with plates or at all ....... we never know....
BUT .. the original poster just say a pic of a wrecked GT3 on the road and took a pic and posted .... he was just trying to share some pics and what he saw.
BUT again, perhaps the pics should be taken down to protect the owner of the vehicle.

ummm...so you think the picture should be taken down in case the owner attempts to defraud his insurance company? How else could that pic hurt the owner. The car is totalled and sitting on a wrecker. I'm totally with you guys on track accident pictures/videos. They shouldn't be posted in public except by the driver...but that wreck could have taken place anywhere...I had heard there was a GT3 flip at T-hill but that car was reportedly silver and this one looks grey to me...as has been said..let's just hope the driver is ok...

I think the damage is done (nice pun)... pics up or down now does not matter to me.. I do not think they should have been posted in the first place (we can agree to disagree) but as you pointed out it is just a wrecked car on the back of a flatbed.

I can see how it would be easy to infer from my previous post "muddying the water" when it comes to his insurance would mean defrauding -- I certainly did not mean it that way. I simply meant that any one car wreck that results in a $120K car being totaled means a fight in the world of insurance and that threads like this help no one. Also in the big picture of DE days, wrecked car photos and posts detailing what happened etc.. even if the car is on a flat bed... really do not help except for one very important way. These photos can serve as a reminder to the track guys (myself included) to take safety seriously and are visual proof of the possible outcomes etc. I read in the other thread, that explicitly details what happened, that this driver's roll bar was the hero of the day after multiple rolls and ultimately landing right side up...
Now if the owner of the car posts his own pics and says "I code browned at turn 8 and this is the result"... I have no problem at all with that.
I reread my posts and believe me, I am not fuming mad or anything like that... I feel for the driver and I hope he is okay... I was merely trying to make the point that wrecked cars along with comments detailing the wreck (ie he wrecked at this turn doing such and such) are not helpful, add little if anything to our online community, and I believe it is rude to the owner of the wrecked car.
In any event, what is done is done... carnage sells, if it bleeds it leads.
well, I think we agree more than we disagree...I just didn't understand the adverse reaction to the original post...I can understand the reaction to some of the speculation (even some of mine)...I just don't think a pic of a wrecked car on a flatbed implies anything one way or the other...if it hadn't been a GT3 with a rollbar the speculation that it happened on track probably wouldn't have been there either...I can assure you that pictures of an on track or off track accident posted by anyone but the involved parties will not be looked upon with favor

possibly it was the extra weight of the mandatory sunroof increasing his center of gravity... thereby inducing a roll...

case closed...
back to regularly scheduled programming.
To be honest I think the only thing that owner cares about right now is BEING ALIVE. I'm sure he could care less about some random pics and speculation on a site called 6speed.
Let's all just hope he is OK and feeling well.

"right now" you are probably correct
just wait until his soreness wears off and his claim is denied...
Put it in the crusher and call it a day! Something needs to fuel the auto industry and economy. Either way I bet the driver, if alive and single will be back at the dealership and then the track in no time. Scratch that. The dealership, speed shop for roll cage, 5 point, extinguisher, hans/seat and then track! I agree with Pj. At least blur out the plate if it’s not your car. You went to the effort to take and post the pics, why not give privacy. If the shoe were on your foot, you might not like how it hurts. With all the carnage in the media these days its getting harder for me to keep in my head the dilatational picture of roads with no speed limits, accidents and candy cane street poles with gum drops.
Well at least now we know that even though cages make you look like a co*k as per Jeremy Clarkson. When pushing the limits I think they are necessary. Its good to hear the driver is ok. I’m sure he would want the designers at Porsche to see those pictures. Looks like some beefier pillars are in order. Hope those of you running around with cf roofs have full on roll cages.
