Drive mine every day, not a big deal at all. Buy it and drive it. It's not a Formula 1 car.

I am contemplating an upgrade of my current C2S order for june to a GT3.
Basically I would go from a "fully loaded" Carrera 2S ( cornering lights, bicolor interiour, adaptive sportseats, -20mm, LSD, short shift etc etc) to a fairly basic GT3 (with only the strict essentials I need, such as a GPS and the noselift) and I am wondering if the price hike is worth it, as I won't be tracking the car anyway. How different is the experience on the street with such a car, compared to a C2S with sports suspension.

DD here. Who cares about the front lip when you can install the Sharkwerks bypass, scrape your way into an underground carpark, hit the SPORT button and listen to the sound track. Really heavy right boots can even set off other cars alarms - lol.

I suspect that the GT3 ride height is not much different than a lowered 997. But I've never driven a GT3, though lust for one. Was wondering what the ride quality was like as a DD? My buddy has a 996 GT3, is a pretty tough guy (races AMA motorcycles) and says the ride really wears on him. I've got Damptronics in my 997. Do you have a sense of the relative ride because the new GT3 makes be dizzy, but it would have to be my 1/2-time DD (the Prius gets me the HOV lane and would be used in the rain).

No question. The 997 GT3 is a daily driver. I have 22K on mine. Rain, Snow or Shine I'm on the road every day. My only recommendation is that you put Continental Snows (810s) for winter driving.

How much more cabin noise is there compared to the C2S? Not that i would mind a bit more noise (who needs a bluetooth phone kit if one has a GT1 engine in the back )

Noise

The interior sound of a 2S is kind of like a toyota camary - plain vanilla.

The sound of a GT3 is heaven. No need for music. You'll always want to rev
to at least 5-6K to get the excitement. Very intoxicating.

On highway in 6th gear - no noise, no problem.

This picture will tell you GT3 can be a daily driver!!!

I've instantly become more thoughtful about speed bumps and driveways - using the 45 degree approach technique wherever possible. Even begun choosing gas stations based on their driveway angle. I had already become acclimated because my Ford GT has a very low front lip too.
I'm with you. I have the GT3 front bumper and I'm just extra careful with it when I drive it. I avoid speed bumps where I can, only go to gas stations I know have a scrape-free driveway, and when in doubt I take it real slow and at a steep angle. So far so good, but yes if you scrape it oh well it's only $200.

It's not a particularly costly piece - especially for Porsche. Even better, the same piece on my Ford GT is $159.00. Amazing for an 'exotic/supercar'. When I asked my buddy what the price was for the equivalent on his Ferrari he just sheepishly started adding 'zero's'
But again, does anyone know how much lower the GT3 bumper is compared to the 997 bumper. That is, for a constant ride height, now much lower to the ground will a swap to a GT3 bumper on my 997S be?
I just this moment returned from getting my car aligned after the Damptronics mod using the GT3 specs (or as close as I could get to them) (thank you Cannga for the posts) and I don't want to have to now 'raise' the car with the new part.
BTW, Sharky (Alex) recommended TCDesign (in the south Bay Area) for the alignment work. Nice folks and great work. Thank you Alex (hope I can mention that).

You should consider the new air lift systems for the damptronics offered by Cargraphic. My Aero 997S scrapes everywhere and it is at stock height. However, I plan on going with the new cargraphic system when I get the damptronics.

Love that attitude! If you're gonna buy such an amazing car, enjoy it, who cares about lip scratches and etc. I know far too many people with amazing cars they never drive or drive once or twice a year. Whats the point at that stage?
Unless you have a multi-million dollar collection with rare examples that serves more as art/investment, you have no excuse. Get out there an enjoy those amazing cars, I know I would be.

I just answered your similar question in the other thread about changing your order from 2009 C2S to GT3. Same answer here. If you spend most of your time on the track and are in the top run group, suffer with the street manners of the GT3. If you spend most of your time on the street and will spend some time on the track, regardless of run group, then stick with the 2009 C2S with Sport PASM. GT3 makes a great track car, not so good a street car (low, harsh, stiff clutch pedal, track oriented gearing, etc.). 2009 C2S is really a blend between Gen 1 C2S and GT3 and with a little modification (ie: Primary Bypass and Softronic) will bridge the gap even more. The 2009 C2S is extremely fast and potent with the Gen 2 Sport PASM / LSD...

When I get the GT3, I will definitely split the DD duty with the e92 M3.
