Battery needed for my 05 GT3

The previous owner put the wrong size battery in the car before selling it to me. It doesnt fit in the tray properly. I have an event this weekend, and I am sure tech inspection won't be happy with an improperly secured battery.

What is the size/model/format I need to get to match the tray?

TIA

I always use a Die Hard E2 from Sears, it fits in the OEM tray with the OEM bracket and it's 20 LBS lighter. Never a problem with it.

Looked on the Sears site and saw lots of DieHards, but nothing that was denoted E2. Is that an International, size group 47?

Yes, group 47, it says E2 on the battery. It's shorter than the oem battery and it uses the last hole in the bracket and fits perfectly(I have seen short battery's like that on European GT2's GT3's and Cup cars). The poles are in the same place and it has the same bottom edges has the oem battery.

PM me if you need more info but it's a great, clean mod with a 3 years warranty for $130 and 20 LBS saving with the factory look.

For another $60, you can get a lightweight (11.5 lb!) battery with will do DD duty, from what I have unearthed at Suncoast's site. Whether it is worth it or not I guess is up to the individual.

Have you considered Odyssey batteries?

http://www.odysseybatteries.com/

I don't know the exact fitment, so look for it on their web site. Good luck.

Yeah but mine fits in the OEM tray with the OEM bracket and looks factory. I believe you have to drill to install the Braille battery tray.

If you need it installed this weekend, which is like today or tomorrow, I think the only option you have is the dealer. It should be around $200. Be sure to tell them it is a GT3, I am pretty sure the regular Carrera uses a bigger/heavier battery.

Don't know what area you are in so don't know what other options you have. I know track guys use many other smaller batteries but to my knowledge, all requires some sort of different mounting brackets so sounds to me you will not have time to do it?

I would not go to the dealer. The battery will be $200+ and who knows how long it has been sitting around.
Get any International gr 47.(they are sold all over) I have always had good luck with sears. $120.00 and it will last longer than the one that came in the car.

I got the diehard e2 (international 47) and it fits as advertised. But what to do with the overflow/breathing tube...?

The mis-sized battery that I am replacing does not have a breather tube, and I did not see a place to connect it in my quick look. So there is one? Where?

Great pic! Is it obvious where the hose feeds out under that plastic grill? I dont have my car handy to check.

Doh, I am pretty sure the hose that came with the Diehard isn't long enough to reach over there. Aquarium tubing the answer? What ahout short term answer I can use for an AX tomorrow?!?
