it's been over 2 yrs since 997 gt3/rs were 1st released and it sure seems like many have exchanged hands. with the 997.2 gt3 coming out soon, curious what the composition is like now on the 997.1 gt3/rs. obviously not everyone's on 6speed, so just a small sample. are you original owner or not?
I will tell you this. I will never buy new again. I will let the other guy take the hit next time. Find a clean GT3 with nice mods and go for it. All the retailing value crap is nonsense.
Anyway my 2 cents.

It's been almost 28 months and over 30K miles. I still enjoy the car as much as the day I brought it home up Hwy 1!!
Maybe I even enjoy it more now.

Original owner and very happy to have done so.
30% cheaper than on the other side of the pond where it now resides. I can put a robust dose of track miles and then some before considering selling at break even.
It's really tough to complain about north american prices, even if you have to negociate your way around greedy dealers.

Original !
Actually, here in Canada these cars were really difficult to get new or even second hand, unless you were ready to do all the paperwork to import a used one from the US. I guess that the dealers waiting lists are not as long as they were used to be back then...
Anyway, I think the economic slowdown will last for some time but things will eventually get better and people will start buying again, and again...

Original owner but not sure if I would buy original again.
I love my air-cooled cars too much. And they have taught me the car doesn't have to be "original" or new for me to enjoy it. I get more from my '97 993's then I do from the GT3.
Not as fast, doesn't attract as many chicks, doesn't get as many nods, but I'm freak-happy driving them.
Don't get me wrong, I love the GT3. Just not what I thought it would be in terms of driver-car relationship. Too sterile.

Are you tracking your car and do you put TC off ? Do you have racing seats ?
That's the most responsive car with the best feedback from the road I have ever driven in my life ! (That includes Ferrari, Lamborghini, Audi R8, Aston Martin, Viper, Ford GT, 996 TT, Lotus Elise, etc.)
