Would you pay for a CPO on a GT3?

Hi all. I hope to pull the trigger this week on a 2007 GT3. I have 3 that I'm considering, which range in price from about $87K to $90K.

I'm leaning more toward the $90K one, which has about 3k miles, and all service done (with records) at a Porsche dealer. Factor warranty expires June 2011.

My question is do you think it's worth the extra $2K or so for this being CPO'd? I'll likely drive it 1-2 years then sell. I know this is a difficult black & white question to answer, but on average, I'm just seeing of those that have GT3's if they would pay for this.

Thanks!

I would pick CPO'd car if a choice. I would not let it stop me from getting a GT3 though.
It is a great machine. I think Excellence mentions the engine is referred to as "the masterpiece".

^^ Thanks for the feedback.

Would you pay an extra $2k for it thought?

I'm between 2 cars at the moment:

1) Meteor Grey Metallic w/ 7,307 miles - $86K
2) White w/ 3,500 miles - $90K

Also comments on which car they'd choose

Above prices are w/o the CPO.

All things being equal, color & option preferences etc. Yes, I personally, would gladly pay $2K for CPO.

CPO - I would (and did) for peace of mind... however, I have not had a warranty claim on my GT3... not one... Keep in mind, if you decide to sell it in a year or two, the CPO is transferable so that might help you in selling it.

^ For peace of mind, I included it. Have no expectation of using it, but have been a believer in CPO/extended warranties since my late wife loved her Jaguars for which we made much use of it.

Thanks all for the feedback. Although there seems to be a consensus on the CPO, I've decided I'll roll the dice and save the $2K & apply to future repairs if necessary.

So I'm still undecided between the 2 cars. $4K more gets me me which (much preferred color for me) and only 3,400 miles versus 7k+. On the other hand, the Grey one has the 2010-style grills protecting the radiators and upgraded front rotors and brake pads for a cup car.

Any more help ?

have a DME printout done on each car and let the over rev report help be your guide

either one sounds nice.

DME's clear both cars. Both are CPO ready as well.

Still weighing whether $4k is worth white and 4K fewer mile or not...

I'd say that the difference in $$$ is offset by the difference in miles. When comparing similar equipped low (less than 10k) mile vehicles. Each mile of difference is comparable to $1. Thus the difference of 4k miles is equivalent to $4k in high-end (GT3 or TT) used-car value.
I would get the color choice that you want (white). If you don't, you'll be always wishing that you had... the grills/upgrades can always be added to your car in the future.

+1, it is a safe bet IMO

what is it with these cars, the harder they are driven, the better they run. No warranty claims on my C2S. I guess they need to be driven.

Did you check the warranty history for the cars? Hopefully there was no mechanical issues on either. I'd still do the CPO given your close to the 4 year factory warranty and the money will give you another 2 years and is transferable.

Perhaps today is the day to pull the trigger. I've decided to go with a low mile car, so the grey one is out. I found another one that is under 3k miles w/ clear DME and factory warranty through 6/2011. PP sale, so no CPO.

I was pleased to see the "2 Year" post with someone reporting they're still "in love" with their GT3 after all that time 2 years with a car for me is like a 50 person-year marriage.
