Porsche gave me free adaptive seats.....

so... I went to look at my GT3 today (not picking it up till next week).

I made sure not to order the adaptive seats on the car (Had them on the turbo and didnt find them to be worth $2200). to my surprise, the car had them. Heres the strange thing.... its not on the window sticker or any of the other paperwork. my dealer has no idea why the car has them.

Must have been a serious factory glitch for this to happen.

for the $2,200 that could have been spent on a roll bar, harnesses and some better tires

LOL... got them in the 10 GT3. Yes they're heavy etc... but makes for a nice comfy change from all the race/bucket seats I have in all the other cars heh.. I have to say those seats really are quite supportive and work well to be honest

ya, im so big, that the "adaptive" function serves no purpose for me.... I have to have everything at the widest setting! Was kind of looking forward to the standard manual seats......

Should I complain?? I mean, I do have power seats and memory for free now......

You're not the first to get them for free.

Are the stock sport seats that much lighter than the Adaptives? I know that the motors and other bits weigh a lot but 46 lbs.?

Either way, Sport or Adaptive, each holds you like glue. I would think that the Adaptives might hold smaller people tighter as the bolsters are adjustable.

I weighed my *** last spring and they weighed 65.4 lbs, and the 996 GT3 CS seats that I installed weighed 33.4. They are 32 lbs lighter then the *** seats, perhaps the 46lbs more is for two seats.

I would complain, if you asked for basic seats, and you don't want/need ***, then it isn't as simple as switching seats, as there are a lot of other components attached to the car (electronics) that add extra weight to your car. I am sure they will try to fix the problem with $.

I would try to (trade + $$$) with someone who wants them and has regular seats. It's only a few bolts and a wiring harness. Not much work...

the standard GT3 sport seats are the second lighest seats available in the 997 line. they are only a little heavier than the $12K carbon fiber version of the sport bucket seats. they are lighter than even the standard sport buckets and yes, they are a staggering 46 pounds lighter than the sport adaptive seats.

info is on porsche's own website.

to the OP, i would ask for your lighter sport seats as they are clearly superior especially in a GT3 where the weight has been painstakingly taken out. and in your case, since you dont need the adaptives anyway, its a no brainer.

I trust your data, as I'm sure you have researched it.

I am just a little confused. I know the Sport Seats are standard, however, the ($3k) optional carbon backed buckets are lighter, right? And, of course, the Adaptives would be the heaviest. Holy crap 46 lbs. is a bit of weight.

Anyway, the porsche (USA) carbon buckets must be roughly 75 or so lbs. lighter than the Adaptives and roughly 32 or so than the standard sport seats.

why couldn't the factory make the mistake on my car and put RS instead of just GT3 and the extra goodies..

Is that a tiptronic steering wheel?? hahaha!

ya, seriously..... maybe they are having supplier issues with the standard seats and figured that a free "upgrade" was the easiest fix?? Im torn on what to do.... If the adaptive seats were a free option, I would have ordered them.... just didnt want to pay for them.... are the standard seats any better?? (besides the weight issue)
