GT3/GT3RS Owners, please chime in.

How would you rate the throttle response of your car, overall?

Additionally, how would you rate the 6th gear throttle response, at say, 60-75 mph?

I have had no experience with an RS, but I was astonished by the throttle response, both in non sport and sport of the 997.1 GT3. It felt razor sharp as all speeds, and at partial throttle.

Thank you all in advance.

Those light weight (and in some cases Ti parts) engine parts make for a razor sharp response I agree. The RS' will feel a bit quicker due to the single mass flywheel.

Sharky, since you know better than nearly everyone...would you say there would be 'no throttle response in 6th gear' going full throttle?

At what speeds though.. that's key If you're doing freeway speeds and romp on it in 6th it'll still get going decently quick but with the amount of revs you have you can always gear down (if you're doing less than 70mph)....

Subjective but feels good to me. I'd say for sure drive one at a dealer first before buying it to make sure it's what you want... But I have no problems for freeway passing

my point of reference is that i owned a 2002 corvette z06. at freeway speeds in 6th it would almost slow down when you apply throttle. if you wanted to pass someone you HAD to downshift.

in my 2010 gt3, this is not the case. but it depends on what you want for response at throttle input. at 75 mph and you want max thrust, downshift to 3rd, but leaving it in 6th, i feel the response is much better that i expected.

6th gear will have little or no response are the lower RPMs. i've rarely used 6th gear unless im going on a long drive + 80mph. but even at 80mph, if you floor it while it 6th gear.. it wont go anywhere fast.

I agree. These cars like to rev high. Regardless of speed and gear, if your looking for response, it's easily found at 4k and higher. Anything less won't get you anywhere fast, but it'll move.

BTW, I have the GT3 (not RS). Put on a lightweight flywheel and it's a different story.

The car is surprisingly decent from 75mph in 6th.. It doesnt have the low end TQ of a turbo so you can forget that but it gets out of its own way.. You wont set any 75-130 records but its livable.. LOL

I never really use 5th or 6th gear, 4th is very responsive from 4,000 RPM's.

GT3s have six gears? Wow, I didn't notice! I'm still trying to break a 30+ year-old habit of driving 911s at nothing less than 3500 RPMs in any gear. 4th and 5th are much more comfortable and still give you a great edge on the power curve . . .

Even though the response is above average, I'm hoping the SW mod of the ECU will give it a quicker response feel. There's just a very slight lag on the throttle that can be a bit annoying at times. 6th gear isn't used much - and if you want to enjoy the bypass, keep it in 4th and run the revs up past 4k all the time.
