Sharwerks by-pass exhaust: WOW
Sharwerks by-pass exhaust: WOW
i didnt think i would ever change the stock exhaust on my GT3. my reasons:
1. i love the stock sound
2. why fix it if it aint broke
3. risk of screwing up that trademark porsche sound
4. risk of it being too loud for a street driven car.
i purchased shrakwerks bypass (and tips) because so many people were happy with their decision and sharky promised a money back gurantee.
now i know what the fuss is all about. car sounds insane in the upper revs and stock-like with the sport button off and under 3k.
i drove for about an hour, 1 or 2 gears lower than normal so i could listen to that sweet sound. cant think of a reason anyone would return this gem.
i put the car on the lift and decided not to pull the bumper. just loosened the side mufflers enough to wiggle the center section off. for a 1 time deal, i dont feel the bumper removal is justified probably because it would be my first stab at it and not sure how long it would take and if i could align everything back on the car afterwards, but if i had to do multiple sets, that might be the way to go.

sharkwerks by-pass and their larger tips go in

Question: in the below pic, the larger tips show the bright SS metal displayed when looking at it from behind. i thought it would blacken with soot and not show like that after a drive but after an hour of high rev driving, it still looks clean. should i just spray it with high temp black paint? what did you guys do about it?

was going to do some video, but couldnt get anyone to stand in the freezing wind for the drive by's

I simply sprayed mine with some high temp black. I didnt dig the silver/black contrast I saw while driving behind my car.

Now unplug the valves
It sounds awesome a low speeds with NO DRONE at all.
You also need to get some more miles on that car......they like to be driven daily. My neighbors love when I start my car up a 4am to goto the gym.

Thanks for posting I was wondering if this could be done w/o removing the bumper...sounds like you can still listen to radio, something that I never could do in my 996 with AH Exhaust....

!
It "can" be done that way but it's a lot more hassle/force etc... to be honest. With the instructions you can take the bumper off in about 15-20 minutes (it's really not hard) but it gives you much better access. And you can absolutely listen to the radio/use the phone etc...
thanks
going to give it a little time for now
i thought better of it and cut my filming short as you can see
thanks
we have had one heck of a cold winter this year for n texas. already snowed twice and iced over once and still dealing with all the road salt. i dont daily drive it but expect to go through a tank of gas on the weekends when the weather turns a little warmer.
i dont intend to save it for the next guy
so, how do you unplug? is it a fuse or ?
haha!
very civilized when you want it to. bumper removal is up to you.
thanks sharky

Thanks Bara and so glad you gave it a go and like it! You can use some high-temp exhaust paint for the bracket/pipe inside although with time it get black/darker etc... For sure if you get a chance have someone drive it so you can hear it from the outside too
Glad you like yours
!
Hehe glad ze neighbors like it

I freaking love mine too - if anything I wish it were louder (sometimes anyway - I'm used to open pipes on my old 65 Mustang, it was crazy loud), but if you ever get someone to rip past you in your car in 2d gear, you will crack a huge smile - it sounds amazing!
There is a grey plug on the right side of the motor that onece disconnected will leave teh valves in open position
Do a search and you will find a picture if needed, it is simple to unplug / plug in
