upgrades for MK1 997 GT3 RS
upgrades for MK1 997 GT3 RS
Gentlemen, quick brief on the car, 997 gt3 rs with sharkwerks muffler and softronic ecu flash on the side, thinking of getting the cup wing installed with the front lip, what do you guys think? and any upgrades on mind? please feel free to throw them in.much appreciated.PS: anyone knows where I can find the cup wing with the lip? and how much do they cost?
mate,
the 997.1 RS is perfect as far as I am concerned. If you want, just look at the details of what Porsche did to the 997.2.
With enough money, I would do:
-the 3.9 engine conversion by Sharkwerks
-front splitter from 997.2 and rear wing from 997.2
-change to wider front tires
But currently for me I have decided to keep my RS entirely stock and to instead improve my driving skills with a lot of driver education and track days with experienced drivers. I want to learn the limits of the car before I decide to get the car to the next level....
Good luck.... you have a great car! But then I am biased....

thanks for your feedback bro, sharkester if u read this i need ur advice:my valves got broken so the dealership suggested we keep them open all the time, but i kind of feel that the sound is not as loud as it used to be, do you recommend i get new valves and install them?
+1!! Very smart idea and probably the least expensive mod you can add. Do you really need the cup wing?? I mean I can understand the front lip (I have it as well) but I cant imagine how expensive the wing is.
How about replacing your SW Bypass with the new exhaust system from FVD? It has the whole set up with new Headers & Cats... It's much lighter than stock as well.

It's much more reasonable than getting a new cup wing...

Having such a great car to start with handling, braking, comfort, looks the only thing that you lack is power. We have developed a Twin turbo kit that bolts on and it would add another 130 to 150 at 5psi of boost. To us at IMA Motorsport is a great option because you can always come back and add more by lowering the CR a bit and raising the manifold pressure. On top of that you do not loose the N/A performance of the engine, and the power is just awesome. I drive a GT3 every day and I started this with my car first and have not looked back for an instance. Everyone that has driven or ridden in the car loves the set up.
It is another option over N/A. There is only so much displacement you can get out of one of this engines. If you think about running boost on top of what you have would make the engine that much bigger in displacement would in it. Take 3.6 and multiply by 1.4 and it brings the engine to 5.05 L of effective displacement. Raise the boost and ..... You get it?

The beauty of that set up you mentioned above is that we add the elbows so that you have the option to run the stock center can for 106dB tracks or you can run the RSR style center muffler bypass to terrorize the streets.

Here is a link to many of our 997 GT3 Gen1 & 2 exhaust options...
