V1 Directwire question

I am getting ready to do this in my GT3. I want to run a wire from fusebox to the rear view mirror area. Do I just need the 8ft power cord (cut one end)or do I need the cord and the directwire power adapter kit?

I will mount it with this:

thanks

From what I understand you need a connector from V1 that is made specifically for this purpose.

I think it has a resistor in it. I had one installed on my RS 60 and the tech called v1 and they said to use their connector that I provided and said something about voltage protection.

you just need a phone cord, walmart sells a black one for $3.xx

There is going to be 6 wires when you cut it open.
Allow for 2 feet of wire.
The green is ground.
The red is power.
Tap into the accessory wire, splice, solder (optional, you can just wrap the wire tightly around), e-tape.
Tap into the ground, repeat steps above.

No need for a fuse.

No need for anything apart from a telephone cable. Follow this and you will be fine:
