Going from a 996TT to a 996GT3.. anyone have experience as a DD?

Since acquiring my 996TT, I have been gradually turning it more GT3 like with the suspension setup, brakes, etc.

Finally, I am thinking about just getting a GT3. How much more punishing is the ride compared to a 996TT from a daily driver perspective? DD is only about 6 months here due to winter storage, but I would like to hear feedback. I am hoping to get a test drive in the next 2 months when spring arrives.. I anticipate that the lack of torque will be noticeable... anything else?

Thanks!

I went from a 996TT to a 997 GT3RS. Similar situation but not identical.

For me, yes lack of torque. But key difference.... driving the TT was like driving a blunt heavy saw, the GT3 is like a precision surgical knife.... you will really notice this much more on the track....

Night and day.... I do not regret the shift at all.... and its a fine daily driver.

Went from 996tt to 996gt3 then to 997tt. GT3 much more focused and sharp...but a little punishing as a daily driver esp on poor Pa. roads. Clutch much stiffer for stop and go traffic. That being said, had my 997tt modded with lowered suspension, WERKS 1 Air intake, ecu flash, and Tubi exhaust to recreate the feel of the razor sharp Gt3.

TT is a blast, but not communicative enough

GT3 is the best dirver's car, but too punishing as a DD

I have a 997.2 C4S (not DD) and feel it's the best of both worlds: incredible handling, PDK is fantastic, although it doesn't have the power, neither the purity of the GT3

Choices, choices !

Convert your TT to RWD and corner-balance her. It will feel like a totally different car. You'll love it.

I had a 996tt as daily driver for 130,000 mi, now have 04 gt3 as same; 80 mi freeeway round trip daily. The gt3 is a great freeway car, really more fun than the tt; sounds better, tighter. Less hp but way more performance from motor and suspension
Having said that, balkish and *****y around town, like a race horse

If you stick with the Turbo you can just put winter tires on it and drive it year-round instead of parking it for 6 months. They're meant to be driven in the snow!

996 GT3 is a great DD. Euro GT3 seats were kind of a pain in the *** in a suit, but other than that its good.

Drove a 6GT3 for 3 1/2 years about 3 to 4 times a week to work (downtown LA) so I was used to working the heavy clutch in traffic. But I didn't have to drive far so the main consideration whether someone can use one as a DD would be how much stop and go traffic one has to endure daily. The ride was tolerable and noise wasn't too bad either. I now drive a 997TT Cab as my daily and really enjoy the more relaxed ride though.
