So the GT3 I am considering is being sold through a dealer by the seller so that he can get the tax benefit of a trade-in on his new GT3-RS.

Anyway, since I am technically buying from the dealer I asked about getting the car CPO'd. Other than the rear tires needing replaced (current rear tread is ~40%) the car should need nothing.

That being the case what do you think the dealer should charge for the CPO?

My CPO since I bought mine through a private party cost $3000.00. I had to pay $1500 to the Dealer and $1500 for the warranty. You will have to pay for a inspection, have any services done if not up to date, tires, wipers, batteries for the keys minimum. They will also charge you too much money for mounting, balancing and alignment for the tires. However the warranty is for 6 years from date of service and 100K miles and is transferable. You might want to pull a carfax, and warranty history to see whats going on with the car before you do the money for the CPO.

wow cheap comparing to bmw m's.. i bought my z4 from a bmw dealer and it wasn't cpo'ed as they were saying it typically costs 4k to cpo an m car and they just wanted to pass along the "saving" to the customer instead.

My understanding is that it cost a dealer 1200.00 to CPO. Expect 1800-3500 extra dollars and use this as a bargaining chip. Definitely get the CPO you will be much much happier and have peace of mind

Just to clarify, I assume the private party you bought the car from had it CPO'd before it was sold to you?

Thanks!

In my situation I am buying from an individual but the deal is being done as a passthru through the dealership so I am technically buying from the dealer.

Somehow between yesterday and this afternoon the price to CPO it grew from $2000 to $4500. I think they realized that since it's a passthrough they are basically making zero on the deal and are trying to pad it and make some $.

I decided to pass on the deal anyway so no biggie.
