When talking tires, my budget is the least of my worries. Remember that is the only thing keeping you in control.

It's like selecting a helmet...You are protecting your head...how much are you willing to spend to protect your brain cells. Believe me I have seen people purchase the cheapest helmet out there, no certification etc....

Your safety...your budget....Good tires all the time.
However just because you spent more on it, doesn't make it safer or better. There are plenty of good tires that don't cost an arm and a leg.

Helmets are a little different. There is less competition to drive the prices down for the quality stuff.

here's my feelings on all this, I wore out 13 sets of MPSC's the first 37,000 miles of driving on my 07 GT3, which averaged right around 3K per set of rears. I then switched to corsa system with 325's on the rears. At about 1500 miles they started to get very greasy and at 1784 miles I had to replace them as they were just dard right dangerous. I now have a set of PS2's on the car, in an attempt to get some more miles out of them for the winter miles and I must agree that on the GT3 they truely sux!! I hate them, they chance the whole geometry of the car and they just feel like they are always struggling for grip. Over 140 mph they wonder and do little to instill any sort of confidence. They are good at low speed on a damp road. Of the three, Cosa-MPSC-PS2 I would take the MPSC's any day of the week for how I use my car. I really don't know how anyone can get 6-8000 miles out of a set of the Corsa systems, I certainly can't!!

I stick with the N-rated, for Porsche, tested by Porsche, approved by Porsche tires. Maybe you know of other N-rated tires that you use on your GT3/GT2? Please share your experience with us, maybe we are missing something.

Just went for my first ride on them. Feel like stiffer sidewalls and softer compound than MPSC's which were on the car. Also new lighter wheels at the same time and all of this on the street, so too early to say. VIR later this month so I'll let you know. A totally different tread configuration than the Corsa's as well.

Not N-rated, but I sure know of other tires that work on my Porsche. Michelin and Porsche have been bed buddies for the longest. But you don't have to drink the kool-aid. All an N-rating means is that said tire WILL work on your car, not that no others will. You have to do your research and know what works for you.

There are enough guys driving non N-spec PS2's and MPSC, Pirelli, Bridgestone etc etc etc with great results for set after set.

I should have been clear ... I'm talking about the Corsa Systems -- the factory tire -- not the regular Corsas. Thanks for pointing out.

Also, yes, I realize it's an apples to oranges comparo (Corsa Systems vs PS2s). However, it's still worth posting IMO so folks can make informed decisions -- that's the whole point of these forums isn't it? Many posts talked up the PS2s on the forums and in person so I figured I'd given 'em a try (and since Corsa Systems were not available at the time). Obviously I didn't like them.

My orginal set of Corsas (the ones that came on the car new) had about 7k miles on them before needing to change them out.

Anyway, I'm just glad to have the O.E. tires back on the car because, yes, it is an apples to oranges comparo and it shows. That was the point I was trying to make.

I can't believe I've had this car for almost 3 years now and love it more than ever. Friends joke with me that I'm way overdue for a new car but there's nothing else out there that compares. When the chips are down and I've had a hard day at work, the GT3 brings me home with a smile on my face and makes all the hard work worth it. The only car I look forward to is the next gen GT3 (2014?).

Obviously, not everyone has the same experience (or driving style). Quote from Snowboarder54 Post #36: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...essions-3.html

"After arriving home and an inspection of the rear tires I noticed that they are worn through the wear bars on the first two inside treads!! Only 1707 miles on this set!! I may have to take back the statement I said earlier about the Pirellis being “my new favorite tires” For the first 1500 miles they were very good, especially on wet or damp pavement, far superior to the MPSC’s! However I am now questioning if they are truly worth the almost $400.00 more a set then the MPSC’s. Also, I managed to average just over 3000 miles for a set of rears with the Michelins, but there is no way I will get close to that on this set of Corsa’s!!"

I wonder how the new Corsa Trofeo will handle in the wet since the pattern has been change considerably?

I would like to know if the Trofeo is a replacement or just a new model?

I'm definitely not going back to Sport Cups, and am seeing good comments about RE11s for a primarily Daily Driver, but has anyone tried the Continental Extreme Contacts DWs? They have very similar specs (in some areas) with the Cups, but are obviously more designed for street use. They're so cheap, though, that I'm scratching my head and thinking I must be missing something.
