GT3 RS Dilemma
Received a call from my dealer saying that he has 2011 Grey/Black with red wheels coming in about two weeks and one of the first 2011 to land.
Has most of the options that I wanted on the car except it doesn't have ceramic brakes but it has the front nose lift, sports chrono (waste) and navigation (not the end of the world).
My issue is that the car was ordered with heated seats, that only can mean it does not have the carbon sports seats.
Why would someone pre order an RS with heated seats
Anyway, I wanted to get your opinion's on if that would be a deal breaker for most of you? How would the fact that this RS does not have the sports seats affect resale values
. I want to track this car and wondering how the adaptive sport seats work on the track?
I asked the dealer if he could exchange the seats for the stock carbon seats...but I am not holding my breath.
I have about a week to decide if I will take the car. Dealer said that if I order what I want it will be a Sept build October delivery.
Thanking you for your opinions in advance...

too bad about no bucket seats, but not a deal breaker if you can enjoy the car earlier.
easy to fit bucket seats or whatever brakes that you want on a car afterwards. After all, it's just money.

I ordered my 11' RS without the Ceramics. I've heard both sides of the story, but from my research the stock brakes with performance pads are the way to go if you track the car. The new red brakes are suppose to be lighter than previous years. The sport seats aftermarket are about 8k! If the dealer works with you, then I would consider this car but if they still have an allocation for you on an order, then I would go that direction! You could get the car exactly the way you want it. You'll have to wait a bit longer but it will be worth it! Plus, I'm not sure about the delivery date of the one he's trying to sell. I was told that the 11' RS will not be delivered until mid to late July. So realistically you might only be 4 to 8 weeks behind if you ordered it! By the way, I got to drive CC08GT2's RS on friday and I followed him in my 07' GT3! We had a blast running the country roads! The RS sounds amazing and pulls really hard! It's an amazing car and you should be really excited!!! Get it exactly how you want it!!!

If you track a car, you should be using harnesses. Harnesses cannot be safely used with any stock seat other than Sport Bucket. Why would anyone buy a track car with seats that do not support harnesses?

I read the same info about the new steel caliper's being lighter, which is nice to see that highend manufacture's like Porsche still engineering better "steel" brakes. Ferrari has given up on steel rotor's and 6 speeds which is the way of progress but I would hate to replace brakes or pads on my Ferrari after five or six track days

Nice to hear about friends taking there cars out for a good run...that is why we buy these type's of cars. Was there a very noticeable diffrence between the two cars in your opinion on the pulling power of the two motor's?
For me the lack of proper RS seats IS a dealbreaker.
Lack of ceramics are NOT a dealbreaker because 1. Ceramics are yellow and look great on ANY car BUT Greyblack with RED livery. And 2. having saved 8800.00 you can get some Performance Friction fronts and rears for that price I believe, and have a better system than the PCCB, that matches the car's red wheels/accents/seatbelts (someone feel free to correct me
)
This is just my opinion...
IMO there are few things worse than red belts and yellow calipers. (props on a great pic to itzkirb!)

Here is a more accurate example of the silliness of red wheels and yellow brakes. To some this may not be important (performance first right?) but in your particular situation, I think Im trying to show what a bullet you dodged by having red brakes, and saving 8800 off the sticker so you can upgrade if you want to...
I'll answer your question about the pulling power between the 10' GT3RS and the 07' GT3. I drove the RS and the car felt like it pulled a lot harder than my GT3. The torque in 1st and 2nd gear was amazing! We got on some private roads and ran the cars side by side from 50 to around 120 several times. I was amazed that even though the RS seemed like it pulled harder and seemed faster, the cars ran almost even! It really seemed like the two cars would come down to the driver! However, we ran the cars from a stand still and the RS pulled away slightly. My friend running in my GT3 said that I was shifting a lot sooner through the gears. I would say that the RS pulls through the RPM's faster which was requiring me to shift sooner but I'm not thinking it's that much faster compared to the GT3. I know these cars are geared different and I'm sure the advantages of the RS would really shine over the GT3 on the track. Maybe Fred has some comparisons with his RS and GT3's!?!??!?!?!

I just looked up the vehicle locator detail list (for this very car) and the code for the heated seats are "342" for $525 and at the end of the list is P01 for Adaptive Sport Seats for N/C

I will ask the dealer on Monday to see if he is willing to do the exchange on the seats and I will let him keep my "heated seats" on the adaptive sports seats for N/C because I am a nice guy
