One bad tire

Well I thought I had a bad TP sensor but it appears to be a bad tire. It's the left rear tire on my '08 GT3. My question is this, can I replace the one tire or do I need to replace both rears? I have just 8500 untracked miles. These Pirelli Corsa's are expensive!

It is dependent on the tread depth that is left on the remaining good tire. Porsche says it must me within 35% side to side on the same axle. You also have to be sure that the same "N" rated tire is still availible.

Same think happened to me, left rear tire at about 8500 miles. The tires did have one DE on them. The Corsas don't last very long, and like you say, they are expensive. My tread depth was already down to about half so I had to replace both.

Shaving is not a bad idea, but if close to 1/2 gone your not really saving any money.

8,500 miles?
I'd be well into the second set! 5,500 is the top end for me.
I've convinced myself that it's the higher friction of the concrete roads in TX. (Couldn't be me!)

Discounted Corsa's:

I've bought used Corsa's when I've damaged them on track.

DFW911T how is that website not a crap-shoot? Sounds like you could get any level of quality.
I love the Pirelli Corsa's but the pricing is outrageuos. I've gone with the Toyo R888's and am extremely happy.

Ebay? A crap shoot?
I've not been burned on tires there ...... yet.

I wanted to switch track tires to 888's last time but I got the Corsa's at 1/2 price and they are a great tire on a heavyweight car like mine (4,150 gross).

All the more reason for the R888's. They have a stiff sidewall and should compliment a heavier car. I'm referring to road course events not dragstrip.
I really do not road course my M5 but 1/4 mile love to run the Mickey Thompson DR's.

8500 miles!?! I got 1854 miles out of my last set of rear Corsa's!! Must be the 3.9 conversion! I have switched back to the MPSC's, been averaging about 3K per set of rears with them.
