Ordering a 2011 997 GT3

I am getting ready to place my order for a 2011 997 GT3 and would like some advice as to the options. I will track the car every now and then but its main use will be fun on the street.

FYI no carbon seats as they arent fat boy friendly :-(

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Get the RS option? ;-)
No options needed, less is more..

Have you tried the seats? My fat *** fits in there quite comfy..
on a GT3:
Dynamic Engine mounts (std on RS)

The rest is personal taste:
Full leather dresses the interior up a lot.
Thicker steering wheel, unless you have small hands
Std radio is terrible, the upgrade not much better
If you don't paint the headlight sparayers they are chrome!

I have tried the seats and just not what I want for driving around in. I really like the adaptive sport seats.

What about axle lift and dynamic engine mounts?

I would get Adaptive sport seats and PCM. I have CF center dash and stitching but that is more of a personal taste. If you track often then Red brakes otherwise Yellow.

If you will drive the car on street often, one option I personally would recommend is the Front Axle Lifting System.

Be prepared to hear some replies (mostly from folks don't have it in their cars) that the front axle lifting system is not necessary, the price can buy a dozen of replacement front lips, etc., etc.

All I want to say is that the front axle lifting system really works, I use it all the time, and really enjoy going everywhere without worrying about scraping the front lip.

If we were to ordering a new $130K+ GT3 and plan to enjoying it on street often, why not spending the money right in the beginning to ordering the front axle lifting system with the car...

Just my two cents.

With best regards,

Congrats on your purchase. The only thing I wish I had done differently is to have gotten the sport seats. That's it. If you can't fit then so be it. Not a problem. As far as the lift system I think it's a waste of money. I have driven my car 8200 miles now through 4 states on all kinds of roads. My spoiler lip is just fine thank you. Granted I am cautious in certain conditions but if you get to the point of activating the lift system you are in decision mode anyway. Also deep six the sport chrono, it's worthless. I have leather but wouldn't bother if i had to do it over. Other than personal taste items that strike your fancy, less is more.

With best regards,

I have it on the RS that i just got...... excellent for those wild speed bumps in some parking lots where someone turned it into more of a "how high" contest versus a rumble strip, but for me it allows me to clear the rain-gutter-dip before my driveway. (And my driveway is on a slight slope also). I also noticed, especially when we traveled west, that many of the gas stations were on an upward slope. But its not cheap at just short of $3500.

+1 he will do some interior bits for me in the future, but the option price was only 200+, so no biggie.

I'm one of those guys. On the MKI I just replaced the lip, the MKII is higher. No problem unless you lower it like a CUP car.

I have yet to scrape it anywhere and it is my daily driver. Flast as a pancake South Florida is not San Francisco ;-)

Like someone said, no options is perfectly fine and you get a phenomenal package out of the box.

The problem is, the longer you ponder about how to spec your car, the more options you end up choosing.

That's what happened to me. I started out by deciding on ordering a GT3 with nothing but the dynamic engine mounts. A few weeks later, it somehow ended up with $25k in extra options lol! The more I read about the option features on the Porsche website, and read the catalog, and read these forums, the more all the other fluff options began to make sense. All of a sudden they became "must haves!"

Moral of the story: be wary of reading these forums too much when deciding on how to spec your car. You'll end up with a fully loaded GT3 if you're not careful

All you really need are PCCB's, lights, logo & fire extinguisher.

Not to get too far off subject, how steep of an incline can you guys take with/without the lift kit? I'm considering a GT3, but have a fairly steep driveway. Steep enough to scrape paint off the bumper on my C2S when I wasn't careful.
