Road Tire Advice

I have Cups for the track... now what is a good set of road tires for the GT3 and what is the performance and wear like compared to the Cups ? My hope is the tires would last longer than the Cups and not show much of a performance degradation on the street. I went through a new set of rear Cups in one year with 4k miles and three track events.

I hear the RE11s are good...?

I have Pirelli Corsa Systems and they are a good compromise for street and track. Probably will last a bit longer than the MPSC and are pretty good for the occassional rain.

Have read some pretty decent reviews of the RE11's but you will probably lose a little on the track with them.

I have RE-11 tires. I got to say they are pretty damn good. Went on a nice drive last night...they give lots of feedback, grip is very good.

Ive gone from a good tire to a bad tire and man you can feel it. Here I did not. Grip is less than MPSC, but its all that you need on the street. People use them on the track often as well.

EDIT: I prefer them over the ps2 and much cheaper

it really depends of what is your definition of 'good'. best dry grip tires are quite bad in the rain. if you need a daily driver tires you need longivity and stability, not neceserally best traction. if it is a weekend car which never sees rain - you want only grip and in this case you may simply run on dot r-comps like toyo ra1 which do have some thread. or kumho v700 unshaved which also have good thread.

speaking of regular street tires, for grip - you can try dunlop star spec or hankook r-s3. I think re11 will have less grip than r-s3 in the dry but will be way better in rain.
look here too:
http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/art...-tires-part-1/

kinda interesting new tire is conti extremecontact dsw. some folks say it has amazing grip and if you need tire that can 'do it all' all year long rains or shines - it may be a good choice.

The RE11 is my all time favorite street tire. Although I did this review on a 370Z, the feedback should be applicable especially with regards to grip levels an wet traction. http://www.the370z.com/wheels-tires/...ew-inside.html

re11 is good, but r-s3 is essentially a r-comp tire with a street thread curved in it.

as of sizing - well, it is a pain topic. I have switched to 18" rims as 19" tires selection sucks and is more expensive but my car is not GT3 obviously.

Can say, this is my first set really. Also put them on my mothers Mini cooper and she loves them.

I know at the Redline time attack events street tire class some cars use the Hankook R-s3 and they are supposed to be great. Paul Walker's AE performance/ Gintani Supercharged M3 got 3rd place w/ those tires

In the review I linked, I spoke about treadwear...it's the best I've ever seen on a pure street tire.
