Front bumper for C-GT

Front bumper skin ($9000) scratched, repainted by dealer in same GT silver, would make a nice backup, for sale at 1/2 price. Owner is selling the car and is getting the LAST delivered US C-GT car in 06 (the rest of the O6 will not meet crash specs for US markets and are delivering in Europe only. PM if interested.

ben, lj and I were discussing this... but it's unclear to me exactly WHY and HOW the Carrera GT doesn't meet the new US crash specs.

What exactly are these new US crash specs?

Hamann7,

My understanding is that it has to do w/Porsche's inability to meet the requirement for advanced airbags in light vehicles, not crash specs.

Yeah, it's an airbag issue. I've got the petition on my drive that crashed but it's ungoing recovery efforts right now or I'd post it.

Click here for a .pdf of Porsche's wrangling with NHTSA over this.

Click here and read down to Docket No. NHTSA-03-15067 for the answer (maybe).

no 06's?

Does that mean the value of ours will hold up longer?? Somehow, I doubt it!

No. I think the same # of allocations are coming to the US as always (just being pulled from Euro allocations) as is the same worldwide production .

so will the us cgt price go up or stabilize sue to the cgt not being offered in 06?

hmm maybe it's a ploy by porsche to raise the value for the cgt lol

OK, now I'm getting a little bit excited.

My CGT has gone from ONVESL to "ONINTERCITY" and should arrive at the dealer by mid-morning tomorrow!

I hope I can resist the temptation to look very cool, collected and disinterested so that I can remember to take lots of pix.

Just a little curiosity here..the latest issue of Panorama states that the CGT production (still 1500) is over 4 years. I always had heard that it was 1500 over 3 years.

It looks like allocations have been pulled from elsewhere to get in under the deadline in the US, and that's not helping the NA supply/demand issue.

Is this a typo or does it mean that Worldwide demand is "soft" or softening?

yes, it's supposed to be three years. as for worldwide demand, i don't know who is going to pay the euro MSRP when they can get it for significantly cheaper if they buy and import CGTs from the US in dollars. and if the usual 2 year euro/4 year US warranty applies, it would be nice to buy a car and ship it to the US for warranty needs for the extra 2 years given the crazy replacement part cost.
