Catastrophic Coolant Hose Coupling Failure Registry

I would like to limit this registry to strictly people who have had this problem. It would be great to see just how expansive this issue really is. This is a serious problem and could easily result in a fatality under the right circumstances. Please avoid discussing the problem and post questions etc elsewhere so that the thread does not get diluted.

The posts should read as follows:

Year:
Model:
Mileage:
Circumstances surrounding failure:
Specific Coupling:
Repair Solution:

Just a word of advice when removing coolant hoses, the retaining clips that hold each individual hose in place are not all the same... just remember where each one came from when putting things back together, because you can put them in the wrong place and it may feel locked in but when it gets hot and pressurized you will know of your mistake.

So what is the recommended fix for those of us that aren't close to your shop? The dealer wants to just replace the one offending part. That leaves 5 others to fail.

Is spot welding an option?

Since either this problem isn't happening to the people on 6speed or the 6speeders just aren't driving hard enough....

See this thread I started on Rennlist. May be a better repository for anyone that has had an issue.

http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...-registry.html

Porsche is really taking a laid back approach to this problem. I think its time the owners step up and see if we can get a more appropriate response out of Porsche NA.
