Why would you want laser protection only to the rear of your car..most laser hits are to the front of the car.

I don't know. However, I got the 9500CI and it works like a charm

I second this......... Don't waste your time/ money/ installation frustration. As a former traffic officer myself, think about this.

Officers rarely laser the rear. Why? They want to keep pursuits of you as brief as possible. Most states also have something called "fresh pursuit" requiring them to keep a reasonable eye on you; meaning they cannot find you 20 minutes later in a parking lot and cite you. Consider the following:
-You need to be as "straight" to them as possible, not shooting at an angle
-Therefore you would have (likely) just passed them
-Therefore you will need some distance away from them
-So likely, you will be 300 to 1000 yards away from them
-They spend a few seconds clocking you
-They decide to pursue
-They put their gun down, seat belt on, car in drive, engage
-Guess what, you're already half-a-mile away
-All of this ground they have to cover ON TOP of the speed difference.

It's simply not practiced much. This is why if you're ever clocked, for instance, on radar by an officer going the opposite way on a highway you stand a reasonable chance of not getting pulled over. For the officer to clock you, decide to pursue, slow down from his highway speed, find a place to turn around and do it, then safely merge back into traffic and catch up doing 0 - whatever to catch you.......

It's certainly possible, it's just not practiced.

jakegt3 is infamous around these parts
I wouldn't say that getting hit from the rear never happens. It happened to me just last week. I drove past the cop below the speed limit and he held his fire. However, as I continued down the road, he probably figured I would speed up (which I didn't) so he decided to shoot me from behind. My 9500ci immediately alerted me to this and all was good.
