Door sill removal?

Anything I should know before it try to remove my old door sills and replace them with carbon ones? The stock sills feel like they are really in there and I dont want to tear anything up. I currently have the stock plastic ones w/ the GT3 logo. Any help would be appreciated.

they are double side tape, usually 2 rows. Very hard to get under and cut. But its got to be done. I start sticking a long flat blade under the front or back end and start prying and cutting away.tape up all around the edges so you dont scratch the paint.

for some things like lettering and small trim dental floss works. but the sill is way to tough with 2 strips if real double side tape. You may get a wire to cut but the angle is bad being jammed up against the door weather rubber. and the wire scratches the paint.

I have personally removed and replaced a damaged stainless sill - heat gun, dental floss, patience.

I removed the sills from my Boxster to replace them with the Carbon sills and I ended up cracking the old ones because I was running out of patience. I taped around the sill to make sure I didn't scratch the paint around them. I used this link to help me out, but from reading this guys experience I thought mine were much more difficult to remove. http://www.planet-9.com/reviews/caym...oor-sills.html. Also, make sure you get all of the 3M tape up that is on the paint after you remove your original door sills and replace them with the new ones. Once you get the old ones up, the rest is easy. Hope this helped.

I guess try and follow the way the guy on p-9 did it above and see if it works for you. I ran out of patience quickly trying to get the old sills off and mine were destroyed. It really depends on how the 3m tape is holding up underneath. Good luck with it.

I've removed both ss and cf. ss was super easy with a blow dryer and some fishing line or you can wrap up a bunch of dental floss.

With the CF I had to be super gentle and to be honest used a shoelace to get them off. All I had to do was get the shoelace in between the sill and car and used as a cutting device by pulling back and fourth to cut through the 3m. Went from both sides and as I got to the middle it just popped off. I cleaned up the old 3m with goo gone and used new double side 3m grey tape.

I think fishing line will either way but I used the shoelace because that's what I found in the garage at the time.

Worked for me. Hope that helps.
